hey guys. just bought my first scooter, a 2010 taotao 50cc scooter.... it runs pretty good. just here to get some ideas on how to maintain and maybe get the electric start working since i can only kick start it

Pretty common for the starters to go bad. Easy to replace. Sometimes it's the start button, but usually it's the starter itself. But you can first try tightening the connection at the starter with a phillips screwdriver (usually) Also, under the seat is a starter relay. You can use a pair of pair of pliers to jump across the two large terminals. If the stater is ok, it should turn over when you do this.
