The seller should say this: Test rides only with the full $ amount in cash in my hand, when the bike returns from your short test ride undamaged, your cash will be returned to you'. if you were the seller you wouldnt let anyone just jump on your bike and ride right? I have seen it all. I have even had people show up on foot and want to 'test ride' lol.

There is no rite or wrong here. Ive bought and sold more cars and scoots then I can recall. At times Ive asked for a deposit, other times nothing. Ive let people ride/drive the vehicle un acompanied and other times with me next to them or Im actually driving the vehicle. It all comes down to feeling the buyer/seller out. TIP: if your young or give off an unexperianced or creepy/off vibe;yyou might want to talk to the seller/buyer and establish a rapor with them. Maybe mention possible other experiences youve had with similar machines or if you havnt ask them to show and teach you how their car/bike works. I would even offer a deposit (if your serious) as many sellers want to have some security but dont neccisarily want to ask for it. Ive personally done this and the previously nervous/unsure seller in turn says "thats okay, just dont wreck it" or something similar. Its about trust. The more at ease you are and the buyer/seller is then the better the transaction and ultimatly you getting more of what you want ie. Lower price when buying & test ride/drives and more money and less risk when selling.
