Around here a Harley rider will wave before sport bike riders will.
Many big bike owners are discovering how useful and convenient small scooters are for those short hops to the store for Mama or the beer belly and are getting scooters for that reason.
It takes a real man in touch with his masculinity (and pocketbook) to ride a scooter.
And what are those leather biker bar guys always riding anyway? It ain't scooters is it?

I noticed that before the helmet law was put into effect in October 2012 here in Maryland, almost none of the bikers would wave or even acknowledge a scooter rider because most of them were pissed because they had to wear a helmet and scooter riders were not required to wear one. Since it is a law now that scooter riders must wear a helmet, most of them now wave.

I get more waves when I'm my KYMCO Movie150 because it looks more like a sports bike then my Vino does. Most arrogant sportsbike riders wouldn't know hoe to handle a scooter properly

Wave Retraction.
Had a '13 Honda PCX150 for about 15 months.
Performance was aces: LC, EFI, very very good mpg; impressive top-end for a 153. Had been very much of two minds about getting it to begin with because I just hated the looks: way too swoopy for my old-fashioned taste, and from the front, it looked just exactly like a sports bike with a shrunken front wheel, like some kind of congenital deformity.
The deal, however, was so good & perf so great that I overcame my reluctance and rode it for quite a few miles until I finally accepted that I was never gonna love it, no matter how well it ran, and sold it off with a great sigh of relief.
Now here's the thing; the damned scoot looked so much like a sports bike from the front, that whenever anybody on an actual sport bike came at me from the opposite direction, the guy would start to throw out a wave, but then, when close enough to realize that I was on a scooter, would quickly jerk his arm back in a panicky attempt to 'take it back.'
Happened many times, and never failed to get me laughing like a donkey behind the faceshield: Gotcha,Squid!
Something else odd: out on the Vino, other scoots never wave; yet Harley guys will about half the time. Similarly, scoot people never wave when on the Grom, but almost all motorcyclists do, even though its a third their size. Can't figure out the motosociology of that a-tall...

I sometimes give a wave at all two wheeled vehicles if I'm in the car. Now when I'm on my scooter I definitely do the wave. I also like to mess with the Harley crowd by riding up to the slow moving packs around here and just follow them around, just for fun..And if I have an audience I get silly. I'll put my boots up on the fairing as if I had them on make-believe highway pegs as I ride next to the Harleys. Most people get a chuckle out of it. I'll also pull up to them at red lights and rev my engine at them..What I find funny is that when I'm on my Harley, I'm almost invisible to the the masses; just waiting for some smart-ass on a scooter to mess with me...

I purposely turned my idle down to where I HAVE to rev it at stops, Harley guys love that. TAZ gets so much attention it's unreal. Hardly anyone here has seen a yamaha scooter, let alone a loud one. Even the 5-0 like it..I'm in heaven.
