So around here (southeast ky), a lot "real" motorcyclists laugh at scooters, but the more I ride it seems the more respect I get, now as I'm riding through town their throwing hands down, 2 weeks ago they thought I was just some random guy on a loud scooter, I'm assuming they thought I couldn't ride, a few passes and red light take offs later I'm being respected for riding 10x harder then them..has this happened to any of you??
P.s. Around here they're scared to death of their bikes and you can barely get them to stop lugging it. I think it's more of an image here..I ride to have fun and go A to B and such

I feel like any body on 2 wheels should show respect to each other because we are all risking our life's riding what we love to ride and have fun doing it! I get pissed when a guy on a 20,000$ hi revving loud ass Harley doesn't wave back lol I just think about the kind of scoot I'd be riding with that kind of money to spend

Its nice they are giving you respect. Over here most small bikes are ridden by learners, so have an "L" plate. Its like an unwritten rule you don't nod at people with L plates. I do though when I am on my motorcycle. We give a nod of the head instead of waving as we drive on the wrong side of the road!

Most cyclists will wave. Seems to be Harleys that are the least likely to in general, especially in groups. If I am on T2 that's bigger and doesn't resemble a scoot so much, especially if I'm in the lane of travel, I can even trick some of the Harley group riders into a wave. That makes me giggle because sometimes I think they wish they could take it back so they didn't just wave at a scoot in front of their "gang". lol On the rare occasion that I see another two-wheeler of any sort when the weather is freezing, they always wave. 9 times out of 10 in any circumstance I'm waving first though. I don't think a lot of cyclists even expect a scoot to wave. I've waved at other scoots and been ignored too.

I'm gonna start throwing my hand to every two wheeled vehicle, the people in their cages seem like they TRY to run me over or off the road lol for instance I was going to my local Walmart shopping plaza the other day (one way in, one out) I always stick close to the white line..and this dude passes me..I was doing well over the 15 mph speed limit so it really ticked me off..he really underestimated TAZ , so I pinned it and went around and cranked it down to a steady 8 mph....oops..lol

I give the wave to every biker i see and get waved back 99% of the time. I even chit chat with them on red lights and gas station. Little anecdote; Last nite on my way back home, im riding in Sorel to go grab the ferry and i got 5 Harleys behind me. I get the the ferry, pay and got in line to wait. They pull up behind me and all get off, gather around my scoot and go: "Wow!!! did you buy it like that?" So the chit chat starts about my scooter and their bikes witch were fully customized (tri-coat paint, air brushed, chromed everywhere you can think of) Harley's. I mean i had something like $500k to $600k to drool over and i did drool all over them. A guy in a van pulls up in the next waiting line. He gets out and walks over and start drooling all over my scooter. I got over $500k worth of show bikes next to it and all people do is drool over my little redneck El Cheapo build wanna be China Davidson. Getting "the wave" always makes me feel like i belong in some close group/community, but getting praised by some of the other riders i meet for the scooter i made is a real chest thumping moment. Dont think its some ego trip, i know i could've build it way better. I'm just proud that i did what i did with the budget and means that i had. I always wave at every 2 wheeler i see. Only time i dont get it back its from them Zuma riding kids.

I find that sometimes when I nod at mopeds they look surprised, or don't understand what you are doing.

many of the farmers around hear in cagers wave at me but then again many of them have bikes at home but have to work in the fields and cant ride as much as I do when I am on the back roads I wave to almost all even when I have a group with me I can usually get a few people to ride as long as I supply the scoots that is why I have 7 of them that way their is no excuse for them not to go out with me lol

I always make it a point to wave at fellow scoots. There's a pretty mutual understanding here too. It's nice. A lot of times I get a little honk or a "rev it up man!" hand sign. Most of the people around here have never seen a modded out scoot so they look stunned when I'm at a red light or if I pull in the gas station. A few weeks ago I got a "Hey man, that's a nice ass scooter!" at a stoplight from a couple of guys in a jacked up turbo diesel with mud tires. I get quite a few waves from motorcyclists too. Never a Harley though. They seem like they have absolutely no respect for guys on scoots. lol. I couldn't care less. Now I just do that annoying Fonzie point at 'em with a big head nod. 'EEYYY!!!
