Figured it was about time that I posted something about my Frankenscooter. First, a history: *Purchased Ludix Elegance in December 2014 for the grand total of $500, few problems (and looked pretty ratty). Little bit of work and it was on the road and driving *After 2 months and about 1200kms, I got a bit bored with the power so purchased...pretty much everything. *While testing out a vibration in the new clutch (only thing that was fitted), had a car pull across the front of me and I hit the ground. Hard. I bounced quite effectively, however the scooter did not. *Diagnosis: massively bent forks. *Next 2 months spent searching for forks to suit the scooter with a whole heap of misinformation *Purchase Ludix Trend for the grand total of $150. It's pretty mashed up, but had a few parts I needed. *Swapped wheels and forks over from carcass. *Took it in for new tyres and a safety inspection. Result - replacement forks no good (unrepairable), brake disc under-size, starter motor dead, massive leak in carby bowl, battery box missing/battery ded, voltage reg ded, exhaust gasket leaking... Goddamn. *Ordered new parts. Now, repairs: - Carby bowl fixed with JB Weld. No more leaks.
- Speedo sender stripped, cleaned and rebuilt
- Bolt snapped while removing disc from wheel hub. Somehow got it out with easy-outs; great success. All threads recut/retapped.
- Starter motor swapped over
- Voltage reg and main electronics replaced and now working.
- Bent exhaust and gasket replaced with cleaned spare.
- Final drive assembly replaced with 10" version, clutch bell thread re-cut (as it was rusty).
- All blue fairing replaced with black ones, 'restored' with a generous coat of 2 stroke oil lols.
Upgrades:
- Air pump decommissioned and replaced (felt pretty gnarly, might have died soon). +hp, lol.
- Scooter battery replaced with bigger capacity bike battery + custom made battery tray/support.
- Custom air-scoop made. This was the first coat of paint, looks much better now.
To be done: - Fit 70cc kit, exhaust, variator, etc.
- Front brakes/disc/bleeding
- Adjust everything.
Result:
I also have a spare great condition (perfect condition piston, bore looks amazing, head is clean and shiny - possibly rebuilt?) engine case/etc from the carcass. Unsure if I should do something with it or not. Any suggestions for stuff that can be done fairly easily before it's back on the road? Don't necessarily want more power or looks, just useful stuff that only requires time to do.

Haha I travel very short distances and have multiple phone chargers everywhere I go.
Question - is it possible to rewind the stator to get a bit more juice easily? The lights are very dim at idle and it bugs me a bit. I have a spare stator lying around

Yes,anything is possible!Rewinding a stator is a tedious task, but rewarding!Google stator rewinding and you'll find lots of ideas..Wire is cheap, just takes time and great care..If you decide to try it,please keep us posted!

I have a spare stator lying around how many pole stator is in it currently? you might be able to just swap in a better one depending on the measurements/platform of that scooter.

I had a brief look around the internet, couldn't see any information on it. It looks like every Ludix variant has the same stator which is a pain. Progress this afternoon: *Frankenclutch build (aforementioned Stage 6 clutch that had a bad vibration - pulled it apart and fitted those springs to the clutch in there, that already had springs in it that were WAY too stiff). *New torque driver/spring setup. Gave everything a good clean too *Who said you need a fancy tool for clutch and bell removal? Also pictured but not obvious is a Stage 6 Variator and 'racing' belt. Next project is underway but no pics - stripped the transmission case and kick-start gear to repaint + add some meshed vents.

CVT cover painted (looks way better than in that photo lol), kick start refurbished (full of shit), cover vented. I was going to mesh up the holes on the inside but I'm not sure if there's really a need - suggestions?

If you like in an area where you will be riding on dirt roads or loose gravel you may want to consider it. Most people I've seen up here and otherwise don't bother covering anything and some of them ride through massive puddles and dirt/rock roads with no problems.

Their customer service is atrocious but they have a big range of parts.

So after two shipping companies losing the bits and pieces I was waiting on, I finally tracked everything down. Forks are on and exactly what I needed (thankfully), however in typical Frankenscooter fashion there were problems with everything else...
Went to fit the disc. Despite what I was told, I have a different centre bore to what I was sent (I should have measured myself but my calipers are dead) so it doesn't fit. I've managed to track down -hopefully- the right disc locally, and even better they have almost any scooter discs you could imagine on the shelf ready to go. Next up I went to fit the pads. Tried spreading the pistons while the old pads were in there - one moved, one didn't. Knowing the brakes were fine before I removed everything initially, I must have somehow swapped the calipers over to the one from the carcass. Thankfully I had the spare caliper lying around, so I was able to give it a good clean up, check that the pistons still slide well (they do) and get everything fitted. Unfortunately, this means I will have to bleed the brakes again, something that almost did my head in the first time - I might try setting up some sort of vacuum bleeding system to assist the process.

Alright, moving onto the Top Performances cylinder kit. Had a look at the rings - neither are labeled or have any distinguising features. While gapping them, I accidently went slightly over - at .004"/inch of bore it was suggested I gap to .0074", which I conveniently do not have on my feeler gauges. One ring is at .008 (pretty close!), one is at .01. Is that too much of a difference to worry about, or should I just install the ring with the smaller gap at the top and the bigger one at the bottom?

Yep,put the proper gapped ring at the top,let the second one do the rest...
