A YouTube viewer pointed out that you could use the old pickup coil wire to pull the new on through instead of the mechanics wire. I didn't think of that at the time, so before using mechanic's wire you may want to try cutting off the pickup coil on the stator end of the wire and attaching the new wire to the old one.
