I was asking about bore and stroke and engine numbers for the Jog 90 and Jog 100 motors that Scrappydog sells and got a reply I didn't want to hear. Here's the reply.... "This directly from Rick: "Yes, it's a 1PE52QMG. 52mm bore, and the G indicates it's a 100cc. We have a more limited quantity than I thought on these. ... The 2stroke is being phased out in Chinese manufacture." Best regards" Well, kinda hard to call it news since we already know it to some degree. Regardless, I hate to hear this sort of thing. Remember, this is someone who deals with Chinese manufacturers.

Ive heard this one and off since the late 90,s when i road and owned 2T bikes and quads.... All my close friends always knew i was a 2T nut so the ones that knew warmed me. Told me to gather up all the "good" ones i can....I kinda laughed on the inside thinking "how could they kill the best?".... These days im starting to wonder if and when that sweet sound of a mean stroked stroker will be a thing of the past?. Like an old warplain or something.
It is sad, very sad!

I think direct injection will keep them alive to some extent.

I wouldn't worry until Rotax pulls the plug!
It's alternate fuels that will kill 2 strokes. I'm *thinking* on a propane build, oh, not any time soon, maybe in a year, or three.
I saw several scooters in the Dominican Republic with BBQ tanks hanging off the side, a few years back. With gasoline prices (where I live) currently @ $5 a gallon, road tax free propane, or natural gas, is starting to become attractive. In the early 80's I ran a 460ci Ford truck on 19 cent a liter propane, city, stop and go, for $5 a day, all day.
Used, liquid cooled Elites (250cc), are starting to show up around here dirt cheap, though appearing dated (angular), they would be ideal for a mad max alternate fueled build.

Yeah I agree. There's tons of brand new aftermarket parts being made for all sorts of discontinued cars and bikes. If there's a demand for it someone will make it.

I dunno how much effect injection will have on Chinese scoots. They're too cheap to have that. I can't afford Aprilias and such if I ever wanna mod them, so that doesn't make it much better.
I think there are too many factors killing the 2Ts. The GY6 50cc is a big one. They can get 80-100MPG and you can pick them up brand new for as low as about the $500 range online. Move up to a 2T and the mileage drops off big time and you are looking at closer to $1000 for the cheaper ones online. I'm quite sure a lot of people (perhaps most) new to scooters won't know the 2T is gonna be much faster in most cases and and won't need mods to reach the level of the average big bored 4T, which will drop the mileage closer to what the 2T gets anyway.
I do think the aftermarket will stick around, but who knows how many whole scoots will be around in years to come. Even if they make cases and cranks still so you could build the motor from scratch, it still sucks to see brand new 2Ts fading out in the Chinese manufactured market. All those scoots do help, even if you already own a 2T powered one. How do you think those auctions get on eBay that we catch deals on from time to time? Parted out scoots have definitely saved me some bucks a time or two. Luckily, even if they quit soon, it would take a while to stop seeing scoots on the market and much longer to stop seeing them on the street and on eBay and craigslist.
