Extended warranties are called spiffs by the sellers. They are absolutely worthless. Just fix things yourself. There is all kinds of info on the web. As a last resort call a service rep. I have found the advice of parts counter guys at the local appliance store and service company invaluable.

Actually, I have a home warranty that covers 10 major appliances and heat/air system, plumbing and electrical system too. My heat pump is 18 years old and it is just a matter of time before something goes wrong. (Big Bucks,no Whammys!!!)

Oh, FrankenMech you are right about the parts counter guys at the appliance store. The guy that I get my parts through is very informative. I over heard a phone conversation while I was waiting. A guy was having problems with the water dispenser leaking. He told the guy to get a solenoid that controls the valve.I told him that was good advice for me when I had the same problem. Lol
