Went away Saturday for a few hours and when we came home, there was water on the floor in front of the refrigerator. I opened the freezer door and the ice bin was almost melted and the water was running through the ice dispenser and ruined the laminate floor.(not good, about $300 worth of food ruined not to mention the mess I had to clean up) So, I have a home warranty that covers all of the appliances and heating system. I make a service request on Saturday and they dispatch a service contractor.I get a call this morning(Monday) from some foreigner with an accent so bad that I could barely understand. He says the earliest that they could service it would be August 8th. WTH!!! I don't think they would like going without a refrigerator for almost 3 weeks.I called the warranty company and raised hell. They said a new contractor would schedule an appointment for today!!! Sometimes a good rant works wonders. Lol

A refrigerator is not as important as a cooker or heating, but must be next on the list. Hope you get the money back for the food. We had a bad storm in 87, no electric for over a week. I was lucky I had just brought a new refrigerator that came with a warranty, all the meat got eaten at a BBQ. And got the money back

I would be happy to just have a working refrigerator. We have a few items on ice in a cooler.

Update: I was to have received a call from a "local" contractor but no one called. So,I called them. The guy asked me where I was located,so I told him. He replied " I have never heard of that town". What was supposed to be a local contractor turned out to be 2 hours from where I live. I called the warranty company and talked to a rep after being on hold for 25 minutes. They said that they would dispatch a more "local" contractor. Really???

Gotta love those warranty plans , pay the extra bucks . Just to get jerked around. Seems like whatever you buy anymore they push that worthless extended warranty , car, phone ,appliances. Etc. Anything for a buck!

Yeah, still getting the run around. After some research, I am 99% sure what the problem is. I am going to see if I can get the part locally and fix it myself. Then I am going to call the warranty company and tell them to stuff it where the sun doesn't shine!!! I'm pretty pissed off about the whole situation. I have a $75 deductable and the part is right around that price.

Update#2: I called a few places and found the part that I needed.(compressor relay $42) I drove 20 miles to get it. I got home, replaced the relay, turned the power back on and "Voila""Bingo" Bullseye". The compressor kicked on, the sun came out, the birds started singing and the heavens opened up. Then after being on hold for 25 minutes,I unloaded on the warranty company!!! They offered me a free service call within the next 6 months. I told them that would not do me any good because I will no longer have a contract with your no account, worthless company!!!

Sorry to hear about all that crap that landed on you, but i'm glad it turned out ok. Does this mean we're gonna have a fridge repair section?

Me too. Thanks, very frustrating that you can't rely on a company that you are paying good money to provide a service.

Oh, I still have to replace the laminate floor that was damaged by the water so it is not completely done yet.
