Hello all, I figured since I have already made a few posts I might as well introduce myself.
My name is obviously Paul. I am 47 and live in Adrian Mi. I recently purchased a new Vort-x scooter. Two actually, one red one and one white one. I believe they are Roketa MC-31-50 scooters. The titles say Jonway yy50qt-4 but nothing comes up with a google search on that model number.
I got them at Campus Scooters in Lansing MI. They will be delivered on Monday so I haven't even ridden it yet. I will let you all know what I think after I get it.
And yes, if you haven't noticed by my first few comments I tend to be long winded and type a lot lol. Sorry about that but I don't know what to tell you.
Looking forward to getting to know you all.
Paul

reverse trike? as in a can am style with two front tires instead of in the rear? It's really real. I love those bikes.

Well my scooter came today. A 2014 Red Vert-X, I guess its a Zuma clone? I took her for a ride and was actually pleasantly surprised. This is the first time I have ridden a "scooter". I have ridden full sized motorcycles (used to have a 883 Hugger) and smaller dirt bikes and minibikes. But they were all at least 75cc and 4 or 5 speed manuals. I was expecting this thing to top out around 35 maybe. To my surprise it will do around 40 on flat ground, and 45-50 down hill. Does about 30 uphill though. It goes good enough that at 35mph I can roll the throttle back to about 1/4 or 1/3 and still stay at 35. Unless I hit an incline of course. Later on I might see what I can do to get it in the 40-45mph range. I am in no big hurry right now though. It suits my needs pretty well as is. I keep reaching for the clutch when I am stopping though There are a few cons. For one it had an oil leak!! The ground wire was sandwiched between the valve cover and head letting oil spray out the side of the valve cover. I pulled it out and put in the right spot and seems to be fine now. Lets just say I was less than thrilled. Nothing like getting a new toy and spending all day dinking around trying to fix it. I wouldn't mind if it took off a bit faster too. Its a bit scary pulling out in to traffic with it. Also never knew how large the turning radius was on these things. I thought they would turn pretty sharp being so small. And the mirrors kind of blow. It is a bit tricky to get them where you want them, then its really easy to bump them out of position. The left mirror even moves on its own if the road is bumpy. Supposedly it came with an upgraded Carb, a better than stock exhaust and some "tuning" what ever that means. probably means they turned up the idle lol. I can't figure out what kind carb is on it though. It says CVK on the left side and "japan" cd10JM1 on the right side. But I can't find any carb on the internet with those numbers. I guess the CVK means its a Keihin though. It is a fun little thing to ride however. It moves just fast enough to get the wind blowing on you and cool you down. Its faster than a bicycle and I don't have to pedal it either.

The scooter speedo will be optimistic. Check your speed by GPS. Nice looking bike! It'd look even better with a stretch on it!

There is a whole list of things I would do before I stretched it. Maybe if it had so much power it was having trouble keep the front wheel on the ground I might. Some how I don't think that will be an issue though. The stretched ones do look cool, but I am not really concerned with how it looks. I will worry about function before cosmetics first. Except maybe new mirrors hehe.
Wow I just looked at stretch kits, a tad pricey. If I did anything to the suspension I might consider lowering it, I am pretty short and have to jump off the seat when I stop. But then I don't want it dragging the ground when I turn either.

Nice scoot! Most new scoots have a sealed carb to meet EPA standards, but it looks like you did get a standard carb. 18-20mm CV carb. You can find them online cheap.

I had a custom stretch bracket fabricated for my zuma wanna-be for $85. That stretch dropped my bike 4 inches as well. The main reasons I did it was for easy access to the valve cover and the lowering. I felt like I was sliding off the seat so I wanted to lower the back. Plus it looks good!
