maybe next week i will get a new battery for the does not run vento triton r4. i needed to get an airbox, [still waiting], cleaned the carb and added new vac and fuel hose + petcock.. it is a 2004 while i have all the body work off should i get a new metal intake and reed assembly, to replace the old rubber unit?

There's nothing wrong with the rubber intakes on the 2Ts. Some of the 4T Chinese scoots are notorious for cracking and tearing their rubber intakes, but it's not a big issue for the minarelli motors. The reed assembly is OK, although if you want a little more peace of mind you could replace the steel reeds with carbon fiber. Steel reeds are known to break off on occasion, then there's little bits of metal inside your engine on top of the other issues a busted reed could cause. The aftermarket reed cages like Stage 6 and Malossi are better made and will flow more so they wouldn't be a bad thing to have if you plan to do more work later.

good advise i will leave it be then and stick to changing over to premix and removing the vac operated petcock..
