Ouch, makes a 50cc china scoot look cheap at about $100 a horsey.

yeah but i'd rather spend the money and have something to ride rather than always complaining about not going anywhere.

I'm off out to clean and check the carb.

Well, it took me a little longer than anticipated, but I did manage to clean the carb.
I found that a few of the atomizer holes were blocked, which would certainly explain my problems. Thanks for the suggestions, and I will report back when I know if it's fixed.

Reeds??? Hows the compression? Reeds are fine, I checked them on the weekend. I tore the top end down yesterday to de-carbon it, nothing scored or seized. It's only done 400mi on the kit.

I may have a possible cause. If given a 7mm gap to jump (the min needed to spark in the compression of the combustion chamber) the spark will often go through the insulation of the HT lead and spark to anything nearby (water hose, frame, throttle cable etc.). In it's current position the HT lead rests on the frame, so I've shortened and moved it so there's at least a 1'' gap.

So do I. If it is I will be annoyed with myself, as round the time it started to play up I replaced the plug cap and HT lead using a lead about twice as long. If isn't I'll be annoyed with the scoot
