This may be a bit rambling, so bear with me.
I have a Kymco Vitality 50 4T, and it's not fast enough (no kidding, right?). I was planning on modding it to fix this, but that just doesn't seem cost effective, or, well, effective at all. Then I recently bought a Vespa for the GF to ride, and I really like that one. So I decided to sell the Kymco and get a bigger scoot. I was all set to hunt down an Aprilla or Piaggio with a 200cc engine.
But then yesterday morning I went for a little ride on my Kymco. And the thing is, it's just brilliant. It rides, handles, and brakes much better than the Vespa. It's just as well made too, and it'll probably be more reliable as well (annoyingly, the Vespa is faster, steel body and all).
But I still need the speed, so the next scoot needs 100+cc's. Now, however, I've decided that it has to be another Kymco. I like the look of the Agility, and I reeeeallllly like the the Super 8. I can nab an Agility 125 off craig's list for around $1k-1500. For some reason, the local dealer wants $2050 for an '09 with a couple hundred miles, which is the same as a new one (which they don't have). And then they have a Super 8 150 for the same price. So the new(ish) Agility doesn't bear consideration. Really it's down to a new Super 8 (just like WT's :thumb: ) or a used Agility 125 for half the money. So how do I choose?

Riding at higher speeds you will LOVE the added stability of the 14 inch wheels on the S8.

As long as you're going the motorcycle endorsement route you may as well go with a Yager but if it were me I'd find a nice low mileage B&W 250. If you want to stay fast and agile find a nice lc Super 9.

The Yager is just too expensive. The Bet and Win looks good, but I haven't seen a single one on CL in the months I've been haunting the scooter section. The Agility comes up a lot. I'm going to see what the dealer will do for me on the S8 with my Vitality as a trade. I'm hoping that offering cash helps too. I'm not sure what my top number is. If I could get out the door for under $1500 I'd do it.

Redirected for update: I haven't found what I'm looking for on CL in all this time, but today I test rode a Piagio BV200, and I think I'm sold. I'm going to go back and pay the man tomorrow. It is more money but the bike is practically brand new. And Damn is it fast. It really roars out of the corners. I didn't find the top speed, but I have zero difficulty believing internet claims of 75mph. I just bought a proper summer jacket and gloves too. I figure with a ride that fast I'll need to properly protect myself. Pics tomorrow when I bring her home!

Sweet! They claim 21HP for those, so I could certainly believe 75MPH. :checkered:

Great little engines those. I'm thinking about a 200cc Runner VXR myself, same engine as yours

Dammit! The seller sold it to someone else. Man. I'm really bummed. I wanted that thing bad. Sigh. The search continues.

...and continues. I went to 3 local scooter joints today, riding my trusty Kymco 50 (stock pipe back on, ready to trade for the right deal). Two of these places only had junk. One of them only had OLD junk, and they still wanted $900+ for beat up 150cc China-Scoot. Who would pay that?
But the one reputable Kymco dealer said they'd give me $750 in trade for my bike (not bad, seeing as I paid just $650 6 months and 1000km ago). That gets me out the door on a NEW Kymco Super 8 150cc for around $1800. I can't afford the People 250S, unfortunately. $1800 is a lot of money, but then Yesterday I was all set to pay a guy $2400 for the BV200.
I just have to decide if the 150 is enough for me, or if I want to hold out for something 200+. That BV200 felt awesome for sure.

Don't buy a smaller scoot just because you can. If you want a 75MPH scoot, hold out for a deal on a 200+cc.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I just looked at a Kymco People S 200 that popped up on CL minutes after my last post. I wanted to want it, but it had nowhere near the guts of the BV, plus it had drum rear brakes. I decided to pass. When I got home I checked it out online and it's only rated at 9.5hp (actual displacement is 163cc). No wonder it felt slower than the 21hp Piaggio! I'm going to hold out. I'm just kicking myself for not nailing down the deal on the BV200 when I had the chance. I thought I could get a better deal if I walked away and called him the next day. It had been up on CL for 3 or 4 weeks; what are the chances that someone else swoops in and buys it that night, right? Bad call on my part.

Dont beat yourself up for trying to get a good deal. Hold off like Brent said and the right one will come. If you go getting a cheaper less reliable scooter now, you will really feel bad. Trust me! Be patient, the deal will come. Dont pass the next one tho! Lol, scooters are going to be getting SOLD this season. GAS< GAS< GAS<!!!!!
