Yes Tsimi that's right about where mine is- eventually goes up to about 170 after a few minutes of idling/revving.

So when using the spark plug cht sensor ring. We are supposed to cut the washer off the spark plug? I've been running mine with both.

So today I had time and wanted to continue my CHT installation which came to a halt the last time do to a blown fuse. I replaced the fuse, started the engine without the CHT connected and all runs good. My tachometer works, speedo meter and lights work. Then i connected the CHT display and the sensor cable to the display and started the engine and guess what...yes the damn thing is dead. It doesn't shine anymore. After about 1min. running the engine the thing even started to smoke lightly. That was the moment when I stopped the engine and removed the display.
I suspect that the first time my fuse blew was "because" of the display too. That is the only logical explanation. The first time it suddenly blew the fuse while the engine was running and display connected. So now I have to contact the seller which is kinda bullshit to explain to him why his display is fried and won't work. I guess he'll say something like, "did you connect it correctly?" or "did you use more then 12V?" anyway let's see what comes out but damn I knew this china stuff is worth shit! You need to buy 10 pcs. to get 1 working one. I had similar issues in the past with an OBD2 adapter for the car. Got 3pcs all 3 didn't work and landed in the trash.
I keep you updated on the situation....
P.S. could i connect the sensor cable to a different display like trail tech or KOSO?

Most CHT sensors are J type or K type,if you match the proper sensor type to the gauge,any should work fine..

UPDATE: So I got a reply from the seller and...he said he will send me a free replacement. I can't ask for more then that, awesome service. So now I have to wait until I get the new display then the game continues...

If you have not already, you should publish the name of that seller as we all should support those that do the right things. You probably already have earlier on in the topic but, it would not hurt to blow that guys horn as much as possible. As we all know, not every seller stands behind their stuff like that. Since I have to wait for my new display to arrive I was thinking what if the new one also burns/breaks? So I was looking for alternatives and found this. That is an oil or water temperature digital meter. around $10 In Japan mostly used to cook tempura stuff since oil temperature is very important for it. The temp range is from -10C(-50F) up to +300C(+572F) more then enough for a CHT gauge. Good thing, it runs on a battery that can be replaced. As always to open those things is a PITA because they hide the screws very good. No choice, had to break it apart. lol As you can see there are two very, very thin copper wires (i think it's copper) attached to the board. One has some sort of tube around it to prevent contact. They are then connected together at the tip at some sort of tiny, tiny glass ball. That is what measures the temperature. I first soldered longer wires to it, i know not a beauty but it is just for testing right now. Then cut the long tip to about half the length that needle will be sticked between the cylinder head fins. I tested it on my stock cylinder head that was laying around and it fits very nicely in between the fins. I removed the airbox first then stuck it from there where the cooling air comes out inside the cylinder head. Here a sample image from Brents BBK install page. Here after few seconds of starting the engine. and here the result after 2min. idling I don't know if it will hold when driving but I think the airbox is preventing it from dropping out from the cylinder head. Will do a test run tomorrow and see if it is accurate enough for normal use. Just arrived at my working place and the temperature numbers are as follows.
While cruising i get 80-90C(176F-194F) after a couple short WOT runs i stopped and let the engine idle it says 105C(220F) then when i turn the engine off and wait a few seconds it goes up till 131.5C(268F). So it is not as accurate and fast as i'd like but it is some indication. It measures not only the cylinder head but more likely the air just around it. At least i can see if the cooling fan is doing its job.

One of those would be great for a cvt case gauge. Just drill the right sized hole and stick it in with some JB Weld to hold it. My cvt case gets really hot...I hope this is normal.
