i got the battery today, and the triton r4 has spark. i could only get the starter to crank using the remote on the key.. the starter button on the bars was a no crank, i turned the key to the right and pushed the starter, nothing.. i do not have any manual on the scooter so maybe i am doing something wrong or just need a new starter switch on the bars, advise? i am still waiting on the airbox and flywheel puller [remove oil pump] before i gas it up and try to start the engine..

just a dumb question and i'm not trying to say you are dumb by asking this but when you hit the start button were you squeezing the brake lever? they have a safety switch in the brake lever you have to squeeze to engage the starter.

not dumb, just ignorant and trying to ground the plug with one hand and crank the starter with other. if it were a motorcycle i would have pulled in the clutch but the scooter being auto i did not even consider it. then, i remove those kinds of interlocks that can fail and leave you on foot.

If your start button/interlocks fail, you can cross the poles on the starter relay with a screwdriver or anything metal to crank the starter just like on a car. It'll get you home.
