My scooter bogged out on me and won't start any more. I have been having problems with it not starting already. I had to always give it throttle to start before and it would not kick start at all. It was still under warranty and I brought it to dealer twice for same issue but they can't seem to fix it so I'm stuck trying to fix it myself now and really don't have the money to bring it to another mechanic. So things I checked already are spark, gas and the compression. Compression was just checked by putting my finger over spark plug hole and it pushed my finger off the hole a little bit. The dealer ship put new carb on, and said they did new piston and rods too. I checked the valve lash and the dealer had them set at .009" intake and .006" exhaust. I don't know what I should check from here. Oh and I changed the valves to .005" intake and .006" exhaust and still no start. Please help with suggestions

Seems like a lot of strange things happening at the dealer. For one, if it's under warranty and won't start they should fix it. You said they did a new piston and rods. There's only one connecting rod and that's not usually replaced without replacing the whole crankshaft. Maybe you/they meant rings (piston rings)? I've never heard of setting the valves at 0.009" intake and 0.006" exhaust. Those are wide settings period, and even stranger that the intake would be 0.003" looser than the exhaust. Your current settings are more reasonable and shouldn't cause it to not start, but I'd set them tighter anyway. 0.002" intake and 0.003" exhaust is very common. Max for me would be 0.004"/0.005". It would be nice to have actual compression figures and I'm wondering what the dealer may have messed up or missed considering the valve lash you found and their inability to fix it. You said you checked gas, but is the spark plug wet so you're sure it's getting all the way to the cylinder?
