Up here, as long as its fully stock with less then 20 000 km on them, they go for over $1000 easy. $700 seems like a fair price, from my point of view. Just ask for a compression test. I've seen some run fairly good with a 90 psi compression. A simple test drive wont tell you much more then how fun they are to ride.
Compression test should be done with the throttle fully open. Start with the electric starter, then finish taking the test with a few "kick".
+150 psi: just pay the dude and grin all the way back home. +120-150: The rebuild story was just that, a story. Just look him in the eyes and wait for the new lowered price. +90-120: If you plan on slapping a BBK on it, you should try to get it for cheap. -90: you should know what to do.

In Vegas I could probably get that scoot for 5 or 600. But his area is completely wack when it comes to pricing. They want absurd prices; prices that are for 08 and newer, great condition Zuma's. I'd still jump on it though because they are fantastic scoots.
700 for a Zuma or 700 for a Chinese scoot? I know what I'm buying

Again, you guys come through as always with results. Thanks spaz, your collection is quite nice. Im gonna be there i feel like one day. Im ready for this day to pass so tomm can determine if i get that or not. Thanks katastroff for the compression numbers, i will definitely be keeping that in mind. Also from doing my own reading on a zuma forum it seems the 05 is the most favored year followed by 2008.

They both have their advantages. Stock 08 has better gearing (better when modified) and the 05 has a better carb. The 08 is actually better, but only by the tiniest of bits. Other then those two things, they are basically identical.

Don't forget the clutch and torque driver on the 08 too. Better design and 3 clutch pads instead of two. Still looking for a used one.

So lemme ask you this, would 05 or 08 matter when my intentions is to install all performance anyway? theres a 08 close by and hes asking the same as the 05 guy.

You could save some money on up gearing the 05 since the 08 has taller gears. All being equal I would try for the 2008. The bonus in the 2005 would be the performance parts it already has, if they aren't garbage.

This guy with the 05 is pretty set on his price and after reading that one comment from paul it makes me wanna consider some things.

So lemme ask you this, would 05 or 08 matter when my intentions is to install all performance anyway? theres a 08 close by and hes asking the same as the 05 guy. Well, the 08 torque driver can handle the added torque much better. The 05 has a faulty design. The 05 clutch is also a 2 shoe compared to the 08's 3 shoe. Not a whole lot better but will last a bit longer until you can upgrade that part as well, although the clutch on both should be upgraded asap on either. So, If I could get an 08 for the same price as an 05, I'd get the 08. The only advantage to the 05 is the stock carb, which you should replace anyway.... EDIT: The only advantage to a STOCK 05 would be the carb. Since you're looking at a modified (better pipe at least) 05, you might be better of with the 05. It's a toss up. Sorry I can't do better than that.

So long as you buy a Zuma you'll be happy coming from a TaoTao. Zumas have a huge aftermarket following, and tons of knowledgable folks on the forums to help you along the way.
