I was at Walmart today and was researching what I thought may have been a rumor. I read somewhere that Castrol and Mobil 1 do not meet Chrysler-Fiat's standards for synthetic oil. So, I started reading the labels and did not see Chrysler-Fiat listed on those 2 brands!!! Quaker State,Penzoil and Valvoline all met the standard. I thought Castrol and Mobil 1 were some high quality oils. Does anyone have any info on this?

Thanks Brent. I was just curious so I had to look for myself. I have a 2014 Ram 1500 with the 5.7l hemi and 8 speed transmission. I don't want to void my warranty over an oil issue. I will probably be using the Quaker State full synthetic. It's about $7 cheaper for a 5 qt jug anyway and "meets Chrysler's standards".

Always used Castrol in all my cars and bikes for years. Never had a problem. A lot of the car/motorcycle companies do deals with the oil manufacturers, so the recommended oil might not be the best

Back in my day the car companies used crappy Havoline oil to do their warranty durability tests because it represented a low standard. If it could survive Havoline changed infrequently for xxxxx miles the bearings and rings etc were good enuf. For the EPA mileage tests they ran the best oil they could get and fudged test specs as much as possible to improve their mileage and HP figures. I am not a lawyer but if you have an oil warranty related problem get a good lawyer and you won't have any problems with the phony car company specifications.
Some oil manufacturers will only list standards when they have proven they meet them. Other manufacturers list what the marketing people say and hope their oil tests out OK when the time comes.
Just use good oil and don't worry. Let the oil companies worry about it if a problem is found. A good lawyer will know how to do that.
