I felt compelled to walk up and ask about this sad, sad little scoot next to the maintenance building of my apartment complex I have lived in for all of three days. It was abandoned by its previous owner 3 years ago, and I was told to take it. Now I need to figure out how to title this in my name. I thought it was a zuma but i was just excited and didnt realize. Its a 2007 mfg date Adly 2 stroke. I will post some pics when my phone has enough juice to take pics.

Its a Minarelli 50cc two stroke. What does this all mean parts, and performance wise? How hard are plastics to obtain for this bike? Maybe a naked scoot? How does this engine hang in the frame?

The only problem I have is that it might not have been the manager's property to give you. I mean, I could have given it to you but, it was not mine to give either. Yes, it was abandoned, evidently, but, there are legal ways to have dealt with that and the manager should have known about this. I am not an attorney and these laws vary from state to state. If I had moved from there and left a car in the lot, I am sure there are procedures (and paperwork) that would eventually allow someone to purchase my car legally but I really doubt that the manger could just tell you to take my car...it is now yours.
Just something to think about when it comes time to try to get a clear title for it. You may not ever be able to do so.
I wish you luck as it sure is a nice scooter. What sort of idiot just leaves a scooter like that behind? Was there a plate or registration on the scoot? If so, maybe you can contact the original owner to work something out. I doubt that he wants it...maybe he will just give you the title and then you are golden. Maybe you have to bribe him with like $50 or something?

I am thinking there has to be a way to see who its vin is registered to. What if its never been registered anywhere? They changed the law in va last year, previously no registration was needed.

2 stroke = faster than 4 stroke
has an oil pump or you premix 2 stroke oil with the gas

Best thing to do is call the police department to see if it was ever reported stolen. If not then it shouldn't be too hard to get registered because as you said, they just changed the law there last year and that's been sitting three years. So it is highly unlikely to have ever been titled or registered to anyone. I think your chances are good.

I am going to start there then see what to do next. I really hope it is as easy as I think it will be.

Well, there is the possibility that when you provide that vin number, they will arrest you for Grand Theft Scooter! (Just kidding) I agree that is a good place to start. It might also be good to get something in writing from the guy that told you that you could just have it. He could explain how it had been abandoned there for three years, etc. This might be good to have in your hip pocket when the time comes to deal with the DMV.
It is just a shame it is not a 4T as we all know how much better those are than 2T's. (Ducking and running from the building after hitting "enter")

The guy I talked to said I could say he gave me permission to remove it. His name is omar and I believe he is the head maintenance guy. They are already surrounding the building hahaha.
