New here and learning! 2014 taotao 2300 miles. Bought it not running. Disassembled and cleaned carb. Replaced plug with ngk plug. Drained fuel. It started but bogged down. Set valves.
Starts and runs but idle races, then slowed and bogges down. Dies and 2 minutes later will start and run on the road and repeat.
I found fuel in the intake and adjusted the float tonight and it was worse. Thinking new carb. What do you think?

Did you replace the fuel filter and clean out the fuel tank of old gas? Do that and clean carb again just to see if it works. I also use a piece of fine wire to make sure the jets aren't clogged.
And the carbs for those are pretty cheap if you want to go that route. I tried to always install a new carb since they're so cheap.

I agree with Spaz. My new carb was $26 from Amazon and it had an 85 jet installed and came with a 90 jet also. Unless you have done mods, you won't need the larger jet but for that money, it was a good fix for me and it ran great out of the box and I was able to tune it to make it even better.

first check for vacuum leaks make sure carburetor gasket is sealing and all vacuum lines are not leaking maybe spray w-d 40 and see if idle changes and if so you found a leak

Check for vacuum leaks and make sure you've got the airbox installed when you're trying to run it.

Thanks guys. Will have one more go at it tonight and then replace. Want to put a clear tube on the carb bowl overflow. I have replaced all of the fuel lines and sprayed down with wd40 with no effect. How much will the float level effect things.

Incorrect float height can flood the engine or starve it if it's far enough off.

Hate to keep bringing this up, but if you have a vacuum petcock, make sure it's not failed and sucking gas straight into the intake through it's vacuum line. My scooter was bogging like a mofo (max 10mph) until I replaced it with a manual petcock and capped the intake port.
