I'm here because i am seriously considering a scooter. 50cc , and maybe later move up and get a license. i have a bad hip, and can't throw my leg over a regular motorcycle so a scooter was my default choice. might eventually get a piaggio mp3 500, but i will wait until i hear reviews from the new ones just coming into the states now.



also looking to mod a 50cc to get it up to 50-55 at the lowest price possible if i go that route. i weigh 245-250 though. i was gonna join the ruckus folks, but those modded bikes coat as much as an mp3 500 lol, so that idea is over.


was not sure how to post intro thread, and i saw nothing on how to do so here. i posted reply on someone's intro, then i couldn't delete

For a fast 50, the best choice is a two-stroke. The Chinese 1E40QMB powered scoots or a used 2002-2011 Yamaha Zuma have lots of aftermarket support. If you just want to hit 50-55MPH as a max speed and not a cruise speed, even some of four-strokes can do so with upgrades. A 150cc in stock form would be able to cruise at those speeds and doesn't cost a whole lot more than a 49cc, but would require a motorcycle license.
