Thanks for asking. He is doing well lately on the steroids and plenty of fish oil and brain food. I tried cutting the dose down as the vet suggested but he really seemed uncomfortable with it. He paced more, seemed lost, and moaned allot. I cannot stand him moaning. He does it out of pure habit sometimes, but its enough to make you ask and worry. If i get him up and get his attention he stops. My pop suggested kipper fish. He loves em! I got him a couple cans at the dollar store last week. They sure do stink but its well worth it for him to have the "brain food", and did i mention he loves them! Lol, he was trying to nibble my hand and lick the can before i could even get them out. I had to tell him to chill or he was gonna cut his tongue on the can. That nose still works great! All in all its still just as hard but i am trying to accept this and make him and happy and comfy as possible. I am not even sure how long we have left and quite honestly ive been too scared to even ask the vet what she thinks as far as "time"? He got to go to the store with us yesterday for more food. He loves that too! A local farm/fleet style place lets pets in so he gets to go on in with us and see/smell all the sights and smells. Most all the people love him too! I get the occasional snob that acts like he is going to bite through a wall to get to them Come on people really? At your age your gonna act like this?!?! All the kids just love him though, and thankfully this place, Rural King stands by their policy and lets pets in as long as they are on a leash and friendly. They dont even seem to be bothered about dogs getting into the food. They just seal the bag back up and discount it. It does worry me some about the pets getting into food. I am afraid they might stop letting them come in if people cannot control them better? Lol, i do buy the discounted food for my other dog Peenut. I try to do at least one thing a day i know he likes or loves. Ive been keeping somewhat of a journal but i am not sure why? I guess it might help me to write, and maybe i might need a date for something, or a reference. Bottom line, it sucks but ive gotta do it. This ole boy has been more than i ever woulda guessed. We have been through allot the past 10 years together. Loved, hated..Won, lost.. Fought together... Been mad at each other, even slept in the car together (glad those days are over ). He has always been there for me no matter what. I will be here for him just the same. No matter what!

That's funny he loves kippers, my dogs both love them, but man that fishy breath. I have not found a fish they will not eat. I'm glad he is feeling better enough to enjoy doing things again.

The prednisone, with Mouse they had me lower the dose as far as we could and maintain fairly healthy behavior. If the lower dose had caused her to become lethargic (her immune system was attacking her own red blood cells) I was to up the dose back where she was normal. So keeping him on the higher dose sounds right to me as he was more normal? Mouse had an unexpected full recovery and was able to be weaned off of the meds. Sadly her mother Daisy was put to sleep yesterday. She was a silly old broad and will be missed. Brought more laughs into our lives, just from looking at her. RIP Daisy (left )

I just read this and am very sorry for your loss Stacy. I hope you are all doing well? Including the other dogs. They take it just as hard but cannot talk about it So sorry hun. Thinking of you! I snapped this pic a few days ago. I wish i could have gotten a better one before Peenut woke up and looked at me. They have become good buddy,s. Peenut seems to understand and know Torquer needs his space and extra help. Torquer is still doing ok with the meds. He is on a new pain/antiflame med now called Gabapentin. Peenut gets some special time with me and his new buddy across the street. My neighbor has a Pug named "Pudge". He is a pretty cool lil guy thats pretty laid back. He is stuck in the house most the day and really has no play time. Ive been helping my neighbor by mowing his yard. I took the opportunity and took Peenut over to meet Pudge one day and they hit it off. Its kinda funny now because when my neighbor gets home from work and lets Pudge out he will go straight to the gate to see if Peenut is out. If he see,s one of us he will start to yell at us to get our attention. Lol, as we walked over last night i was mocking Pudge as he barked. "hey, whats up man? Wanna come over and chill for a few?".. "Peenut! Whats up man? Come hang out bro" My wife was laughing at me.. She says i speak dog.

Doing ok. Have my moments, More at feeding time and bed time. They all eat in a different room, that way I can tell if anyone is off there food, and nobody steals the other guys dinner. She would hear her food bowl in the bedroom, and make her way around 3 rooms and corners totally blind. Never failed to amaze me. Her daughters, Elle is nervous and clingy, wants to hug a lot. Mouse seems ok other than she was the one Daisy snuggled at night. So night time is extra pets and a blanket over there heads at night quiets them down, like birds.
Over the years, we always tended to have dogs in pairs. When we had Champer, a 135 pound newf mix, and Dolly, a 4 pound pom, it took him a long time to stop looking for her when she was hit by a car. Those two were funny. He always let her steal his bones, and to wrestle, she stood on his head and snarled a lot chewing his ears while he flailed his head around making bear noises. Sammy and Cylo, Sammy went within a year of Cylo. They were old pals, grew up and old together.
Big dog Nanna, and old guy Pooky are fine. Nanna has a buddy next door too. As soon as Nanna goes out she goes to the fence and barks, if the jack russel is out they take turns barking and running laps around the yards. Jack russel will do the same routine, checking for Nanna and starting the fun. If the lady is out she picks him up and does the whole poor puppy thing. Really though, they are just making noise together tails a waggin.
