Aww, she took pictures today too, but he's not wearing his harness, bad dog. He is happy though. They spent a couple hours romping on the back 40. Max is a collie/poodle. She actually spent money on DNA testing to figure out what he was. He looks huge, but he's only about 45 lbs. Just had his hair cut or he becomes a giant dust mop.

LOL, you got him pegged pretty good there  We use the term Doofy. He also loves his squeeky duck toys, and gives and asks for hugs often. Another find at the pound. He was imported from another pound that gave up on him.

Bingo is from a humane society office a county over. They are a no-kill facility. They receive no government funding. They have a small front office (4 ppl in there and it's crowded), an area that leaves a lot to be desired in floor space to care for the animals, and then the kennels. Everything is well kept but it looks like they could really use some funding. The lady behind the desk up front had something like 15 animals at home that no one would adopt over a long period of time. Go down the highway 14 miles to the next county's humane society and you're greeted by a large brick building with pillars that's beautiful inside. They have pet meeting rooms where people can "try out" their potential pets and rooms more like a high end pet shop with huge glass windows and all that. Really nice place. They kill the animals after 60 days we were told. I'd rather go to the spot that does their best to save animals rather than the one with tons of funding that follows a strict policy. Bingo would have been euthanized if he were at the high dollar place. He was in a large litter and with the other selection of animals and siblings, he had been there over 90 days when we got him. He's my buddy, so just knowing that he would have been killed by the other place will keep me going back to this one. It doesn't help matters that we rescued a fox from the ditch in front of our house a few years ago. He was just a baby and so cold he wasn't moving when we brought him in. Once he warmed up and dried off, he came back to life. I bottle fed him and hand fed him for 2 weeks till we got an appointment at the vet. The vet told us that he wasn't sure it was a fox, could be some breed of cat. I later realized why the vet wouldn't proclaim our little friend a fox. They told us that by law we would have to take him to the humane society (that rich one I mentioned) for them to examine him. So, my mother and I took our little fox (she named Tipper) to the humane society. There we were told that he was definitely a fox, not that we had any doubt. Then we were told that we were now not allowed to leave with Tipper, because he is a wild animal. "OK, so what do you do? Will he be released into the wild at some point?" No, because he has been in contact with humans he is now a public health risk and will have to be tested for rabies". That means, they kill him and chop his head off. I told my mother she could stay with him while he's put to sleep, it wouldn't be a good thing for me to see the person that's doing this "for my safety". A week or so later we got the results back, no rabies. Hooray, they made us kill an innocent little fox because of their policy. They even told us that from his health, it was almost 0 chance that he is rabid. I know it's their policy, and I know it's for "public safety", and I suppose it's the right course of action... but nothing felt right about that to me. I know they would have to do the same thing at any government facility, but it really doesn't make me feel better about the situation or like the folks there any more. In my eyes, they follow strict policy... which simply means they kill a lot more animals than the place that's not government funded. Sorry to be a downer, just got me thinking. My grandfather was a hunter, and my father hunted with him, and I even hunted at a young age, but you'll not catch me out there after an animal anymore. If I were ever starving and needed the food, but I see nothing sporting about it. I'd sooner hunt people. I suppose it makes me a hypocrite cause I have a leather jacket and gloves and eat meat. :stumped:

Daisy came from a little place like that. Bingo is a lucky dog. I can tell you that nobody is going to be walking into my house unexpected. I don't know about your neighborhoods, but there are always police reports of people wandering in and passing out on strangers couches in the paper around here. My neighbor had a guy pounding on his door at 2 in the morning wanting to be let in cuz he used to party there all the time, 3 renters ago, LOL. The Jehovah Witness folks have only tried my door once. My beasties take care of me and mine.

I keep my doors locked all the time, but I can't say it's common around here for random napping incidents. I've heard the stories, not local, of burglars robbing a house and falling asleep, ultimately being caught. lol

Awww, I was a total failier at selling puppies. Not that I couldn't find buyers, I just couldn't not bond with the little squirts. That is how I ended up with 6 dogs in my house. 2 of them were from the only litter I've ever raised in 48 years of dogs.
