I initially went out a few nights on the TaoTao with the GoPro hunting these down. Then I realized that the GoPro footage didn't look very good or show much detail so I went out a couple more times in the car with my camcorder. I did something I've never done before last night, and hopefully won't do again. I was in a town that I haven't been to in a long time to see if there were any big displays in the area. I didn't find any so I headed out of town. There's a red light where I turn left onto a highway to head toward home. While sitting there, the car across the way had bright HID lights and was sitting on a hill in a way that they were blinding to me. The light turned green and he went, then I turned left just beyond traffic sitting at the light headed to my right. As I turned I wondered what was up with the strange merge lane that I got into. I kept going somewhat cautiously and then encountered head on traffic as I realized I was going the wrong way on a dual-lane highway and the strange merge lane was a turn lane.
I got into the median and then turned around after traffic passed. I was a bit surprised that traffic coming the other way barely slowed down when seeing headlights coming at them, since I'd assume they realized where they were. A friend lives 1/4 mile from that intersection and I used to go there at least weekly, so I've been through it hundreds of times. Between being half blind from the oncoming HIDs and knowing how I always turned, I never even thought that they had done construction there recently and changed the one lane each way 55MPH road into dual lanes each way like a proper highway. Oops. It was interesting at least. lol
