Maybe it's just me, but I never try to contact people about a scoot if they don't include their phone number.

Maybe it's just me, but I never try to contact people about a scoot if they don't include their phone number. Others have said the same. I'll give 'em a number if they email me. I hate talking on the phone. Like, a lot. 1 offer so far. $400 from someone that just wants it to take a motorcycle test. I probably should have just kept it tagged and rented it for skills tests... but then I'd have to answer that damn phone. lol

This fella says he'll take it at $450, and I said I'll take $450. Say's he'll definitely come get it before the end of the month. Wants to know if it's in shape to ride it to Arlington, VA... 2 hours or so on the highway. Say's he'll take the liability of riding it with no insurance. I told him once we sign the papers over, it's up to him what he does but it sure would be safer in the back of a truck. Prob 50/50 if he comes through at best anyway. Then I'd say he's got about a 5% chance of riding that thing 2 hours on major highways with no tags or insurance and not going to jail. lol

Your too honest Brent. Just be a little more vague... it could make it on the highway... License yeah I got one... fast - yeah it goes 75ish like the rest of them. No seriously better to cover yourself so someone stupid doesn't get hurt. Don't forget to fill out a as-is bill of sale. If you don't have one on here (I think you did) here is one: www.motorecyclenow.com/uploads/2/8/7/2/2872658/bill_of_sale_.pdf

I've got copies for buyer and seller of a BoS/As-Is and an odometer disclosure statement from the MVA just in case the buyer needs it. Trying to cover myself and the new owner. I don't want to screw anyone out of anything or make it any more difficult than it needs to be. I'm a lousy salesman.
Just got done explaining how it can be tied down in a truck for a set of $7 HF ratchet straps.

I've got another guy now that didn't want to haggle on price so far and says he'll come tomorrow after work with cash if I can be around. He's from a couple of hours away too though. Last time around the only person that actually came to see it was within 30 min. Def more interest listing in spring than late fall; that's for sure. Maybe I'll actually get rid of this thing.

Good Luck on the sale! Seems like things go in spurts. Sometimes I'll get bummed that nobody is calling for 2 weeks straight but all of a sudden I'll get three calls in a day. Weird. I'm sure it's a little tougher selling a scoot in a rural area like yours but I have no doubt the right buyer will realize it's a good scoot with a knowledgeable person selling it. Hoping it's a positive experience for ya!

The guy that hasn't tried to haggle the price says he's watched the video as well now and it looks perfect for his commute to work so he'll be here Fri night or Sat morning depending which is best for all involved. He's 2hr away and the other guy is about 2hr away so I sent the other guy an email that I am not really holding it for anyone, but this fellow made solid arrangements with me first so I won't sell it to anyone till that time comes and passes because I wouldn't want anyone to drive 2 hours for a scooter to be sold out from under them. Crossing my fingers on this one. I'd love to see it go for $600 to someone that's not going to ride it home without tags/insurance on RT50 and 495.

I'm lovin' craigslist again. The guy that was definitely coming Friday night or Saturday morning because it's perfect for him hasn't showed up or got in contact since last night.
I've got messages asking questions answered clearly in the ad and video. Heck, I've got 3 people that want the scooter already... but not badly enough to actually do anything about it. Not sure if it's just fun to shop or what.
There has to be 1... just 1... dependable person that's willing to read a listing and watch a video looking for a scooter. Every time I deal with craigslist I have a strong desire to crawl in a hole and die.... and it hasn't even been a full week yet. I would be in a straight jacket if I tried to flip scoots on there like Niz.

Perhaps they want it delivered??? Then they wouldn't be there when I showed up. Bite the bullet and give it away!LoL (JK) No bull, I thought about putting it out in the yard with a big sign, "$100 Starts, Runs, & Rides Well. Clean Title.", for my sanity's sake this afternoon. Someone would wander up while I'm working on the TaoTao and ask me if it runs though and I'd have to stab them with a hot soldering iron. Plus, I could use the cash.

Since the "definite" buyer is now a ghost, I contacted others that were interested to let them know it's available any time they want to come get it. The dude that talked about riding it home really wants it, but now wants me to go to $400 or meet him an hour or so away because he can't find a ride so he'll have to use Uber or public transport and then ride it home. I said I'm not willing to do it with people offering me more and not asking me to meet them anywhere. I went to Uhaul's site, checked in his area, and saw an estimate of basically $150 for a pickup with the time and mileage. Told him I'd look into that option because I assume it is comparable to an Uber driver taking you 2 hours from home and certainly easier than getting arrested and cheaper than the $1000 fine for no insurance or registration (I think each is a separate $1000 actually). I guess it's not my business if he want's to get himself into trouble, but I'm trying to talk some sense into him. So now I'm not only aggravated by people that won't show, but I'm also trying to keep them safe on their likely fictitious trips.

I think many believe my ad is too informative and scaring off buyers, but I have 3 more people interested today. Responses aren't my issue now. It's all of the people that are interested that never come through. Not sure if changing the ad will really change that. Everyone so far is an hour or more away and I don't think that's helping. Seems like hardly anyone has a way to get it either. Because of how flaky most ppl have been, I'm afraid to drive it far to deliver without payment up front for delivery since I can't trust them to meet me wherever. IIRC there was some scam on craigslist involving a PayPal where they'd demand a refund somehow and the buyer ended up with nothing. I could be mistaken, but I think that's what it was... so even a payment up front could get me screwed over.
The guy that wants to ride it home now moved his date to mid May. Before he had to get it by then end of April. Now he wants to ride it to see if he thinks he can pass a test on it. I told him he can ride it all he wants if he buys it, but I don't want anything in my name out on the road without tags and insurance. I did offer to let him ride it around the yard as long as he put cash in my hand before that and as long as he doesn't damage anything he can have the money back if doesn't still want it. I told him if he can't pass the MC test on this, he's prob not going to pass it on anything.

Just a thought, maybe call one of the scooter dealers in a nearby large town/city and ask if they will consign it for you. They'll get a portion of the sale, but it takes all this frustration away. The dealers get a lot of traffic and it should sell soon.
