Interesting stuff to follow Niz. The vids that have been posted of high end Vespas do a nice job of making me drool , but that last pic really makes me want one. Here's another shot of it with the others... Seeing the difference here I'm still amazed- if not even more now- how fast the little 70cc's can be!

Ugh...such modern tires on such a classic scoot....Heidenau K3's would've looked a lot better!

P series are hardly considered classics. The classic look is certainly not what I'm after. These tires will go perfectly with my "scheme"!

For future reference Hodgespeed out of Seattle is a SIP US rep. He orders weekly I think? Makes it easier on stuff that may get hung up in customs and such. Plus he KNOWS Vespas.

Was finally able to get the clutch off the crank with this handy dandy castle nut tool: I'm real happy with how healthy the clutch seems. I did get a rebuild kit for it. The only clutch/gear problems I noticed were from when I got a little more comfortable with the scoot and really started ragging on it, it would try to jump out of 2nd and 3rd gear occasionally. I've read that's probably due to a worn shifter cruciform. I haven't gotten deep enough in yet to see what mine looks like but I have a new one to install... Looking good so far!

Holy crap that's a lot of performance stuff. I wanna see it hit 90+. I don't think this will be a 90 mph scoot. Much like the 90+cc Mina stuff, the Polini cylinder I'm using is known more for low end grunt than high RPM top speed. The Malossi cylinders for these P200's are more the high RPM screamers. From the research I've done, this cylinder should end up with durations around 180/130ish or so and rev to like 8500 RPM's- I did get an extra base gasket to space it up a bit for a little more duration... also the 'cut and flowed' crank I'm using is cut for longer intake durations and a larger "case charge" so that's exciting! Everywhere I read the stock P200's should do 65mph. Seems like typical internet baloney to me- or folks just relying on optimistic speedometers and not GPS data. I GPS'd it stock at 57mph top speed (the piston was a bit damaged though)... I'd be thrilled to see 70 with plenty of wheelie power when I'm finished!

Received one of the last few pieces to the puzzle today; Trailtech TTO CHT gauge... I was hoping to be done spending $$ for a little bit (that tax return was fun while it lasted!) but I found this mess: Ouch! The stator is a little pricey to replace (and I don't want a cheap Ebay stator from India), so I'm planning on totally re-wiring it. Luckily I found a pre-assembled "stator replacement kit" for $15 at ScooterWest.com (they mentioned it in one of their vids). Probably be a little project just rounding up the correct wires and hardware and soldering it all together myself, so I figure I'll spend the $15+shipping and just go from there... Should be a little break in spending for a while, then I'll need to focus on getting a decent pipe for it (Really hoping for a 190mech Peace Pipe!), and then of course lastly- cosmetics! I'd really really like to (and kinda need to) do the front disc brake conversion but it's so damn expensive! ($400-$500!) I'll have to keep digging around and see if I can't piece together a front disc conversion a little cheaper somehow... Back to tearing down. Crank should be coming out soon!
