Unfortunately for some of us 2t and 4t owners we have to take our CVT covers off to do tuning and stuff then have to put the cover back on to start our machines then take the cover back off while running to inspect. So I came up with nifty this solution. It's still a work in process. Yes it does torque and bind with only one screw. Working on 2 bolt version with more support. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvQpY2yQmps&feature=youtu.beYeah, I cheated and took the spark plug out too. Did you think Id post a fail, saving that one for Tosh.

Clank, if Kymco ZX50/Sym DD50 cvt covers were abundantly available and reasonably priced I would of modified one for this scenario. Heck even one that's cracked/damaged or a broken kick start would work.
Thanks for sharing.

That sure would of been a lot easier to make. My goal was to be able to service the variator with bracket installed. Thanks for sharing.

Most of us don't have tons of luck with kick start longevity on these engines. If you do that with the 139QMB you'll probably either need to find a better CVT cover that won't break regularly or buy a case of them. I have no e-start on most of my 2Ts and have few problems since learning not to clock the lever way up, but I don't dare try it with the 139QMB. On the first kick you can tell they aren't like the 2T. They feel rather wimpy, like you'd expect it to break anytime. At least one good thing is you don't have a 1lb starter clutch mounted on the crank like some Minarellis.

Yeah, the kick starter on my GY6 lasted maybe a week. I just try to keep the estart working well now.
Back when I was first getting into modding it I tried to run it without the CVT cover. Bendix didn't fall out the first couple times I started it but it did rattle around on the teeth like crazy.

I knew the bendix would rattle around and possibly flip out and break something. There is an outward force when gears mesh with each other trying to disengage them. That is why I made my simple bendix support Brent mentioned: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/11575/50cc-starter-bendix-retainer-toolIt is also small, light, and flat enough to throw in your tool bag and not take up much space I stamped mine with '50CC BENDIX RETAINER' to keep me from using this little aluminum part for something else...
