I offered to help a friend out with removing the ignition on his little Kymco scooter, figuring it was the standard simple remove the cover(s), unplug a coupla wires, and loosen the big nut on the back (or something similar)
well, my pal called and said he removed the covers and there were 2 big round nuts holding the ignition in place and he's never seen anything like them. my first thought was acorn nuts, but he said no.
I'm gathering up tools and am trying to figure out what I need to take with me...I've not seen it yet, so I'm hoping there's someone out here with Kymco experience who can tell me what the hell to expect?!
Ugh.

thanks for the warm welcome! I should have realized...when it comes down to it there is damn near nothing a good pair of Vise Grips won't do. Or a hammer and chisel. heh.
It's all good now...except for the re-keying.

Welcome vulvaline! Great screen name! If you have enough access to them, you can cut a slot in the bolt heads with a hacksaw blade and then remove them with a flat screwdriver or just drill the heads off with a drill using a progressively larger bit till the head comes off and the remove what's left with your fingers or pliers.
