I'd like to introduce myself, as i am new to the forum. I'm 24. I am currently a "lube tech" (I hate that job title) for a Ford dealership in Green Bay, soon to be an official technician after this semester of school. I own a Cobalt LT and have had it for 6 years. It's definitely not stock and I have done all the work myself. I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty or learning how to work on new things. I picked up a beat up 50cc GY6 Chinese scooter from a good friend of mine for $20. He said it didn't run and he didn't want to put any time into it. Picked it up and brought it back to my house. First thing I did was flip the fuel filter around so it was going the correct way. I attached the dead battery, drained the fuel tank and filled it with fresh premium. Gave it a few kicks and it started. drove it down the road and back and it was obvious it needed a little tuning. Took the carb out and soaked it with cleaner, then adjusted the valves. That seemed to make a huge difference. Then I began my project with my mind running crazy with ideas... I am here to learn and receive input from other members.

Thanks. I plan on doing a wire tuck, different headlight and tail light, and trying to keep it as bare frame as possible.

Booyah! $20 scoot! Haha love it when folks just ditch a scoot when it comes time for a valve adjustment! Nice score.

Since my last post (I know it's been a while) I have completely removed the plastics. Also retrofitted a projector headlight and bracket with a bright LED bulb, fitted an LED running and brake light, and started moving the wife's around to try and hide them. I've also taken an old junk bicycle and used the frame from that to reinforce the frame on the moped and Add a bicycle seat. It's becoming more of a rat rod project more than anything. I've been looking into doing an 80cc big bore kit as well as 20mm carb and rejet. Last week I was going down a hill and found a wobble in the ass end at about 42-45mph. The shaft the wheel is connected to could be bent, or the wheel. Not sure which one it is yet.
Anyway. I have taken it from home, to work, and back roughly 4 times this year and it's a blast. Still haven't spent more than $50 total on the thing! The looks and compliments I get while riding it are totally worth the massive amounts of brainstorming and experimenting I have done.

Also, I am no longer a "lube tech". Now a certified Ford flat-rate Technician.
