Last week bought a 1958 Allstate Supercruisaire Got a new kickstart lever for it since the splines on the original lever were toast. New one doesn't fit. Ordered it from Scooterswest and it said it would fit but it don't. The screw used to clamp it sits like a D. Where the round part of the D is the circle for the crank and the | part is the bolt. It cuts into the circle making it so the lever can't slide over the crank. sigh. I think that motor may be toast anyways so it may be a moot point. Still soaking the cylinder in penetrating oil to try to break the seize. Soon I'll be buying lots of old Vespa bits though! Did you try the lever without the bolt fitted? On most scooters you have to put the lever all the way on. Then put the bolt through.

I did yeah. Bolt won't screw in due to the crank arm being in the way. Guess that means there's no going back to this motor and on to the P case. Cylinder still has penetrating oil in it but it hasn't seeped in at all in about a week now. So I'll just put this on the shelf for now and when I have more time in like 20 yrs I'll split the cases and try to bring it back to life.

The miracles of the internet and Amazon. I was working on the Pink scoot to get it road ready and the turn signals were dead. I found the flasher relay and un plugged it and plugged it back in and all the lights cam on but no flashy-flashy. I pulled my phone and went to Amazon and a new Glixal will be here tomorrow. No more opening a catalog and searching through for the correct one. Then calling the company and ordering over the phone then waiting a few weeks to have it show up. How did we ever get anything done.
my son is amazed that we used to take pictures and didn't get to see them for weeks (at first) then for an hour before digital cameras really took off. Like holy crap, even I'm like how in the world did we accept that nonsense!! I wonder if in the 1400's people thought the world changed too fast or even further back maybe to AD times. We really went from having to knock on doors to see if friends were home to play to playing over our phones in 30yrs. Making me think the scientists are right and it'll be in our lifetimes that we'll have the tech to upload our conciousness into the internet to live forever! That's really my last hurdle I'm already mostly metal so once my thoughts go robot I'll live forever!!! Really don't think that would be all that great honestly.

You may have to adjust the lever position and even take a file to the shaft to clear the bolt.

Today a parcel arrived which I had forgotten about. A chap on Facebook said he could make me this to replace my trailer wheel on the sidecar and fit a Vespa wheel to it. Just got to get his PayPal address to pay him which is only £30 including postage.

Got a seat bag as no storage on cutdown. Also a mirror, just waiting for the post to arrive bored of twizzling head around every 5 seconds and being as we drive on the proper side the road over here looking over the right shoulder is not so good as right eye bit squiffy.

a PX150E for the Allstate. Will be here on Saturday!
Can't wait to get this thing running. Luckily we're getting a foot of snow right now so I'm in no rush. Gotta get the 10" fork conversion next.

Always found those covers ok for short term use. But not very good past that. Hopefully you will find somewhere soon that's got scooter parking.

Good luck finding apartments or houses to rent.
Landlords would rather let properties sit empty than deal with deadbeat renters not paying, running up utilities and tearing hell out of apartments etc, tenants which they can't evict. They are not renewing leases either. I imagine all kinds of hell will break loose when the anti-eviction laws go out and renters that are behind on rent get thrown out. the government didn't tell grocery stores and fast food they had to give free food, or gas stations free gas, or Walmart give free clothes etc. Watch rents double and triple after the covid. What the government did was a 'nice thought' but horribly unfair. They should have just made those unemployment checks bigger.
