So I am in the Hardware store in today walking toward the nuts and bolts and who do I nearly run into but Pat Smear with a handful of nondescript items in his hand and I say, "Hey! How are you doing?" he says "Great!" and I said, I just wanna say hello and reached out and shook his hand. I didn't gush, I just said "You're awesome man!" and turned and walked away. Living in the L.A. area you never know who you'll see just going about your daily business.
For those who don't know who Pat Smear is, he was/is in the Foo Fighters and a punk legend. He's bigger than I thought he would be in person and he was very personable.

Nice! I've only known of him playing guitar. A friend and I were playing Everlong Saturday and I told him we need to get Pat Smear over here so we can get that last guitar part in. Next time you see him, let him know.

Yeah well not always. Back in '81 I was trying to walk out the door of a venue called the Troubadour on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood and I actually hit David Lee Roth with the door as he was coming in. I paused a sec and looked up and realized who he was and immediately said "Sorry Mr. Roth" and he grumbled something incoherent and shoved me aside and into the wall like a rag doll. I was a little bit angry and then not 5 minutes later that prick walked out with a blonde on each arm. He clothes were dirty and his hair was greasy. I'm a fan of old Van Halen and I don't hate DLR, but sometimes celebs can act like entitled A-holes.
