Remember, Murphy says: -That what you are looking for will be in the last place you look. -If you fail to find something and buy a replacement the first item will show up as soon as you lose the receipt or the return privilege is over. -If you can't find your screwdriver look in your hand or back pocket. -and many more....
I hate those plastic bags every shop uses but then I hated the old paper ones too. They both block your vision in several ways. I make containers out of all kinds of cans, bottles, and boxes. One of my favorites is saltine cracker boxes that can be cut down to any depth.
While you are looking for things pick up a handful of items that are out of place. When your hands are full return the items to their places, -then keep looking and picking up things until you find what you were looking for. Even if you get tired of looking for something you have still accomplished something.
BTW- When looking for things I find a small LED flashlight is a great help in focusing your vision.

Soon as u buy a replacement, you will either find what you lost, or realize that you did not indeed need it in the first place. Also, wasnt Murphy the one who said "If it can go wrong it will go wrong."? I have more coffee cans, and pop cartons full of bits and pieces then I know what to do with. My family owns an old un liveable rental house, that I have managed to nearly completely fillvl with scooters, parts, tools, and, well junk. It takes me hours to find something, I try to organize things, but every time I work on something, I will get in a hurry to clean up, and EVERYTHING ends up in a box or can, or on a shelf etc,
