I scored this Handsomeboy/hockeymask GY6 with less than 1k miles on CraigsList for $120. But the low price comes with a boat load of work. all panels off, bent fork, brake fluid resevoir broken, no key. All easily solvable for me, But... The exhaust was lost in a crash and the exhaust studs are broken off in the head. I have a spare GY6 head with no valves from my liquidation that I want to put in this bike. But I can't get the valve springs off to switch em. Besides ordering a small engine valve tool, does anyone know a way or a web link to get GY6 valves off?

There isn't a ton of pressure on these little valves. You might be able to get them off by just pressing down on them and holding the head upside down so the keepers will fall out. I'd be surprised if you can get them back in that way though. I wonder if you could come up with an adapter of some type to go over the retainer and use a C-clamp. You'd jut have to be careful that whatever doesn't spring out at you if it gets a little crooked while compressing the spring.

You could cut a slot in and old socket that's just under the size of the retainer diameter and compress it with a C-clamp. Would probably be a pain the line it all up. Just a though.

I got the valves out by standing up a deep socket and put the valve seat square to the top of the socket and pushed down on the head and once I released, the seat and keepers fell out. A modified version of 90gt suggestion.
Now only if I could get the keepers back in???
