Looks like a great project to geek out on! I love electronics and soldering fun goes way back to my teenage RC car racing days, but never dove in so deep as to solder together computer boards and chips! Would love to see the progress on your project!

I don't think the forums like the format of the URL, but copying and pasting it into my browser worked fine for me.

I don't know much about arduino but from what i read and see about it you can do alot with sensors and motors. It really sparked my interest! I might buy a book about it in the near future.

Smartphone based scooter dashHere is a link to a thread I started a while back. I think my idea has a lot of promise but I lack the immediate knowledge and motivation to move forward with it at the moment. I think it may be an easy way to go due to a large part of it being already done for us. You young guys should be able to whip this up pretty easy!

I think we are on breaking technology. I feel we should form a team. To make this happen. I have 2 other forum members beginning a audrino project. Which I have a ton of info for. I say we make the technology, package it, and private label it. No one is doing this in this industry. Your thoughts?

I'd share knowledge just for the fun of it. If someone wants to market it, fine by me.

Progress: I've got the prototype of the thermocouple and lcd display working. I'll change it to a brighter LED, but waiting for that to come from China. Cost to make it so far Thermocouple from Ebay $8.25 Arduino starter kit Aliexpress $6.02 LED display Aliexpress $4.18 Thermocouple amplifier Aliexpress $12 Total $30.45 Not a whole lot cheaper than a Trail Tech ($45 plus $8 extension cable) but the thermocouple did come with a 10 foot cable and when I add the tachometer, it will only cost me an additional $3.50. Then to output to phone will cost another $3 So total for a CHT and Tach output to LED and phone would be $37. Probably only worth the trouble if you are a geek like me and/or want the CHT and Tach on a single display.

I hit Arduino gauge display heaven over on a Mercedes board.
Here's a link to a project using Processing ide to display gauges on an Android phone or tablet coming from multiple sensors plugged into an Arduino.
