:welcome:
I think the Bando belts are better than Gates anyway. Make sure you clean everything out thoroughly. Dust and belt bits tend to get everywhere. Look everything over and see if you can find any reason that the belt could have went.

I think that's what I'm going to go for, the original belt is a Gates 669-18.1, the one I bought new, Gates branded from eBay was a 669-18 as I couldn't find the .1 version. I didn't think it would make much of a difference being .1mm different in width. maybe it was just defective, who knows. It certainly made it vibrate more than usual, but I thought it was just bedding in.
Just before it snapped my speed dropped and it felt like the belt was slipping, the revs seemed high, then all of a sudden i heard it go, and smelt that lovely burning rubber smell. I had to call my mother to bring my belt, impact wrench and 8mm socket for the cvt cover. I had most of the fragments and strands removed, nothing got caught up in the clutch fortunately, i took it off to inspect it, and all was fine. I might see if the seller can give me a refund? :S £10 wasn't too bad.

.1mm of width would make no discernible difference. Hard to say for sure what caused it. Sounds like, me I snapped 2 in a row this AM and had to get tools and a belt brought to me. My second lasted 0.94 miles. lol I had a bout some time ago where I went through a bunch of cheap belts and even a Gates. Never did find any real reason. Stuck a Bando on there and had no trouble for a long time. I can't say that it was for sure that the Bando is better, but it was happening on my 4T and one of my 2Ts at the same time and both stopped once I moved to Bando. I had done a little work ion there making sure things cleared and such, but that was enough to sell me on Bando belts. The one I snapped this morning was a Bando with maybe 100 miles on it, but I think my CVT mods were to blame. Second was really old and nasty looking.
I'll be surprised if you get a refund, but I wouldn't blame you for trying.

I will try my best to get a refund, but It could of been my fault when I reassembled the variator components. I doubt it though, i've had it off loads of times and the only problem I had was once the nut flew off and i was stranded LOL. You seem to have a lot of bad luck O: I've had this 4T for the best part of a year now, it's been a really reliable machine when I don't mess with it. When I first bought it, it hardly went anywhere, tootled along at 27mph with an RPM restricted CDI and variator ring. A month in and 2000km on the clock, I fitted a 72cc big bore kit and swapped out the CDI, giving me a 40mph top speed, which I've had up to 46mph with a strong wind behind me. But I know I'll never see that again, so I don't feel that's the true top speed. I changed the weights around, all the way from 3g to 5g, but went with the stock weights as they gave me the smoothest transition from take off to top speed. I guess they're 6.5g? 7g? I had to replace the cylinder head because I stripped out the valve cover bolt threads. You wouldn't believe me but it was as cheap as a helicoil set to replace it and only took me an hour in a cold shed one evening. My engine makes some pretty dire noises at times, I always wonder how much longer it will last, even when the valves are adjusted properly. if I get another few thousand km out of i'll be happy, it's been an awesome tinker toy I've crashed it twice too, once coming off at 30mph on a roundabout, and another time trying to pull a wheelie LOl. Im more more careful now, but the scoot still has the scars! I'm now looking for a Honda C90 to replace it with LOl. But I'll probably keep this until the crank goes and then weigh up my options.

Too fast in a roundabout and a wheelie attempt... that's crashing in style IMO. lol
Stock weights are usually 6-8g.
