He might have meant total weight? 30grams would put it at 5grams a roller. I can still handle that kinda math lol.

That would make more sense. lol Sorry, I never speak or think in total weight, always individual.

I cut the breather pipe extension off the main exhaust shaft. And I also took out the variator restrictor ring. As far as fucking with the cylinder, I think I'll pass. Is it possible tO adjust the current springs In the clutch?

You could swap them out for stiffer springs, but not adjust them. You could lighten the clutch shoes to have a similar effect to stiffer springs.

I got my scooter back today....its an improvment. I was expecting a little more of a response, but I guess I shouldnt ask too much for 49ccs. So the Eton had (6) 15gram rollers so they were replaced by 10s. The racing pipe on it sounds awesome, but the pick up is still so sloooow. It gets up to 50....it just takes a while to get up there. It will go to 20 then slow down and eventually get to 30 after like 10 seconds then it will pick up again and make it to 50. The main jet on the carb was a 70 he rejetted it with a 80....My back brakes were replaced, but they still suck he told me the pads on the rim were shot so I would need to replace the rim to get them to work right.

I suggest you either learn to tune it yourself or get another mechanic. The scoot has 4000 miles on it and the rear drum is messed up? I've never heard of a stock 49cc scoot with that heavy of rollers. Try 5g rollers.

I agree with stepthrutuner. Get a new mechanic.
10gram weights is outrageous for your scooter.
The rear rim has no pads. It's just a metal cylinder that the pads (connected to the transmission) press against to create friction. Unless the rear brake is the only brake that was ever used, then your pads should still be ok.
About the pick up... Sounds like your torque driver (rear pulley) opens too quickly causing you to shift up early. Had the same problem you're describing. Would lag until 5mph, hit the power curve and shoot up to 20mph, then drop revs and they wouldn't get back up until 30mph, then it would take off again to 50-60mph. My fix was to put a stiffer torque spring in it, but I did lose some top speed.

yea....well too late to get another mechanic. Thats already $260 down the drain. So he said the scooter had 15g rollers and he put in 10s are you guys saying I should go down to 8 or 5? would this help with my pick up? Drawkward: I dont know much about scooters or I would have done the work myself. When you are talking about "torque springs" are you referring to the clutch springs? How difficult are these to change?

The torque spring/contra spring is the large spring between the rear pulley and the clutch. While the roller weights are trying to separate the variator, the contra spring is trying to hold the rear pulley closed. The contra spring and roller weights must be tuned to work together. If the right roller weights are selected for best performance, then you swap in a different contra spring, it'll be out of tune again. A stiffer contra will increase RPM, a softer contra will decrease RPM. So I'd either try 5g rollers at this point or a stiffer torque/contra spring.

hmm, I will look into this. Perhaps I can tackle this project on my own. I have encounted one other problem. When I had gotten my scooter back it was starting right up. A few days went by and I had to spray some starter fluid to get it started...which isnt too much of a problem considering its a 10 year old motor, but I noticed now after the scooter was running about 2 min down the road I hear the engine start to die at about 20 MPH so I give it all the gas...and no response. It eventually bogs down and I have to spray starter fluid several times to get her going again. Does the carbs need to be readjusted?

Try adjusting the mixture and possibly the richening the needle setting. If it's still doing it, it might be a good idea to check the float level and make sure the fuel system is clean and clear.

If there is a green wire clip that one, but I think you have to replace the CDI for all the 2000 beamers
