I am in the market for a action camera. Was looking for feed back from those that have them here, likes and dislikes, as well as suggestions.
Thanks, Don

I have a gopro hero 3+ its good but my only gripe is that there is alot of windnoise on it and the back screen is sold separately. The 4 has a built in screen. Overall its a good camera though.

Emerson Action Cam. Comes with a waterproof case, impact case, handlebar mount, and helmet mount. It also has a rear display for playback viewing. IMO it beats a gopro hands down when it comes to images quality when mounted to something that shakes and vibrates. They're about $40 at Best Buy. Hell of a lot cheaper than a $300 go pro. I'd cry if $300 fell off my ride. $40 would irritate me but I wouldn't kill the wallet as bad.

I ordered a SJ4000 wi-fi. Seems to be a GoPro copy and therefore all the GoPro accessory can be used. Cam has a build in display and does a decent job from what i have seen. According to Lucass2T the audio is not that good though.

I've got a GoPro Hero4 Silver and 2 GoPro Hero 2s. The 4 is very nice. Much better quality than the older ones, especially at night or if you want higher frame rates. The file format is better and the memory capacity is higher so it will hold a lot more video. More accessories and parts for it than any other action cam. Main drawback is it's expensive. Some of the guys on the forum have used SJ Cams and it looks like they do very well from what I've watched. Huge price difference and I would say they are worth considering. Can't say I know a lot about it, buy Royal Jordanian on YouTube posted a vid showing a GoPro Hero4 Black vs a Sony cam that looked nice a little while ago. It's another expensive one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uXdNnwoKQgYou can find tons of comparison or sample vids on YouTube for many cams. Regarding losing cams, at least for the GoPro they make replacement rings for around the lens that have a hole so you can use a safety line of some sort. I'm guilty of rarely ever using one. After losing a Hero 2 some time ago that was on the back of a scoot, I do try to at least use it if the cam is somewhere I can't see.

I was just looking on Aliexpress and they have an SJ 7000 and an SJ 9000. Both look really nice and if you use the Aliexpress app then you get a big discount.

Alright, my kinda topic:
GoPro Hero4 here.
Pros:
1080, 60FPS. Great image quality, great features, time lapse etc. Great aftermarket accessoires touchscreen on the back. Mountable almost anywhere. I have had it on several angles on the bike, filmed over 30hours having it on my bagstrap in China and even had our dog film our wedding reception (WATCH ALL MY PRIVATE LIFE ON YOUTUBE) Waterproof with the right case
Cons:
For proper filming, BAD audio. I used an aftermarket Stereo mic for most of my stuff, but recently, on bike and around it, with inbuild mic. Huge difference, the inbuild one is just bad. Aftermarket mic = using an open case = not waterproof. Battery life SUCKS, i have now 6 additional aftermarket batteries. Don't buy official GoPro stuff, way too expensive! Don't get sucked into using their software. Move your ass and learn Premiere Pro.

Thanks for all the feed back. One main concern would be if mic's on the cameras captures the wind noise or does it cancel it so you can hear everything else. I am sorta leaning towards this. buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/into-sports/action-cameras/virb-xe/prod165499.htmlI sorta like these two features. G-Metrix: Built-in Garmin GPS and sensors track your movements in real-time and display it all in powerful gauges, graphs and more. Audio: Exposed microphone for extremely clear audio even underwater; wireless HD audio from Bluetooth®-enabled headsets or microphones. I was wondering if the G-Metrix info was overlay-ed on the video, sorta like a police dash cam. Didn't see much in their documentation.

i got a gopro hero. the new cheap one. permanently inside the housing and no replaceable battery. comes with a open backdoor for when you aren't recording in the wet. its ok. has both 720p60 and 1080p30 modes. no screen except the little 1/2 inch B&W one on the front. I like it for what it is. the 1080p video is a bit pixelated in areas with repeating patterns and grass but it was cheap so I cant complain. sound quality is good but the wind gets in there if its windy and youre using the "skeleton" backdoor. I use it on a headstrap over the helmet. it stays in place fine even when youre on rough stuff. the accessories are stupid expensive however. how about a $60 body harness? no thanks!
