What are some of those things that you do specifically with your scooter? Like, I remember someone mentioning that they give way to cars when you find you run slow and possibly hindering traffic ..i do it too..sometimes....or saving the world I know there might not be many ,but lets see ....

Letting cars pass is as good for me as the cars as long as it's done safely. I don't want angry drivers around me or tailgating me. Plus, I know I get frustrated when someone is doing much under the speed limit, so I try not to do that to everyone else if I can help it.
Does the biker wave count as scooter etiquette? I can't think of much.

Why do people always want to wave at me as I'm slowing down or in the process of shifting gears? I'm all for waving at anyone for any reason, but it seems I always encounter other two wheelers when my left hand is busy.

I try to be friendly to all motorcyclists and give 'em the "two down". Most respond in kind.

I blame the waving due to an old Honda adverting campaign.

I blame the waving due to an old Honda adverting campaign. People probably would be quite happy if their 49cc 4T engines carried them along at 45MPH and got 200MPG. I've never owned a Cub, but my clone engines sure never performed like that.

I'm guessing these put out around 4.5 hp. The 4 sp.manual 50 ohv motorcycle I believe was rated at 5 hp. The 65 ohc I had back then put out 6.2 and topped out at 56 mph. The ohv 50s topped out at about 50. Those were the days - the Twin Jet Yamaha 2t was the ultimate teen tool in about '66.

I'm with letting cars go by. I live in the Thumb Area of MI., and ALL roads are 55mph speed limit. I judge traffic behind me and oncoming, if the car behind me can't pass, I'll pull over.
1 exception to this!! If I am in a no passing zone, I will hog the lane (even if it pisses someone off). This is to keep jerks from passing me, getting next to me and have to run me off the road to avoid a head on collision. It's happened twice to me. So I hog the whole lane until it is safe to pass.
By the way, I wave, but I've found Harley riders do not return my wave. All other brands of motorcycles, the driver will wave.

I ride in the inner city urban jungle scene so letting cars pass me ain't happening as I can beat most vehicles to the next light. I now carry a 12oz scooter tool and jackwagon jax for cranium upus rectum cagers. The Harley wave I use for any passing two wheelers though most Scooters won't wave back. Scooters around here honk the roadrunner horn that Scooters have. Some riders will only throw two fingers up from the grip rather than dropping two down. Real Harley riders will always give a low deuce back. Usually only the credit card riders are the ones that don't wave back. You can actually see fear in their eyes as if the overly priced flashy ride will somehow make them men but realize it doesn't when a scooter passes them with more charisma.

In my town there aren't many roads with limits above 35-40 so everyone drives 40-50, which means I can go fast enough to not annoy people. Barely.

I do find that scooterists like to honk at each other. Only thing I have with an intact horn is the Vespa and you can't hear it over the engine.
