anyone else here run RC? ive been in it almost 2 years now and have 2 vehicles. a 1:18 ECX Ruckus and a old (2000-ish) 1:10 Associated RC10T3. nothing crazy, both still brushed and running NIMH 6s packs. ill admit, im still somewhat a noob even though i been it in for a little while. I don't race or anything, just for fun as its something ive always wanted since I was little but it was too expensive then. the ECX is dusty from running it today, looks terrible in the pic LOL.

In my late teens when I could afford the hobby I used to run them did some racing I was all nitro. I had some that were crazy fast I think it was a hpi with a 2 speed. I got a 1/5 scale 2stroke buggy about 5 years ago. Nitro is so addictive and expensive. I've been thinking of getting one again lately. Don't do this to me!

ryan_ott If you're looking to get into the hobby of nitro try the Taiwan copy of a BAJA 1/5 2stroke, its £240 on ebay really good copy and to be fair better quality engine, lots of mods and extras available too! I had one on loan at a track day it was crazy fast and loved the air. Also had my favourite feature of the oiled sock caps which is rare on copys and resivor

The last one I had was an HPI RS4 MT. It was an AWD and powered by an upgraded electric motor (forget which one). The larger Traxxas Nitro T-Maxx came out as I was getting out of RC altogether. I really wanted one, but the local shop wanted over $500 and that money went into my 1:1 scale car instead. Real cars killed the RC hobby for me. If I had cash to spare I'd like to mess with the big nitro trucks still, but I can't see me having $500+ that I wouldn't rather put into a scooter at this point. No pics of mine, but this is basically it.

nice stuff guys. been wanting to put a gopro mount on the RC10. probably get a different body to do that with since I don't want a mount to always be stuck on the old original body. at least then I could make videos with it. havent been able to before. would be nice. I thought about going nitro when I first got into all this but decided against when I saw the fuel price and what engines cost. I guess when I need to burn some fuel for fun I got tons of other stuff to do that with. with the exception of parts costs, the electric ones are basically free to run except for the small cost of power to charge the batteries.

I have a BEAST of a 54cc Homelite engine that I am actually wanting to mod for a 1/5 truck body. Stock, with a restricted muffler thus engine would put out 3.3 HP. It's not stock any more. I put a taller piston and a longer rod from an sxlao Homelite, and spaced the jug 2mm to compensate Made a BEAST ass chainsaw, tore through 22" oak like a hit knife through butter.
The motor alone, no gas tank flywheel or points, weighs 14ozs that's kinda heavy, but with a lightened Phelon flywheel, and a hot chip, it should only weigh in at 18-22ozs. Heavy, but powerful.
I have been working on this motor for almost four years now. It pulls a .404 chain on a 20" bar with an 8 tooth sprocket like having no chain on a newer saw. It's old, a 1977 model, but I will have it finished one of these days. I found a kit to mount the motor to a plane or a heli, but I want a little Baja truck. still working on adapting the drive side of the crank to hold an RC clutch.

I had the old what 2nd gen Rc 10. Copper color frame. To broke to buy another set of crystals for my pistol grip. My car was all over the place at the track from someone else with the same frequency. Back then the gas powered chain driven Rc cars were the shit. I don't even think carbon fiber hit the scene yet. It was all graphite composite.
