The guy at the hobby shop that's been helping me do the mods, gave me a deal on the electronic components that I will need. The servo for the throttle, dual servos for the steering, and the transmitter and receiver chips. I gotta put all the transmitter pieces in a remote on my own, but I got the stuff at a heller deal. I traded the guy a DVD box set of the show Scrubs, seasons one through seven ( I think ) and got all that, and a few other odds and end things. Such as tiny little motor shocks, I guess like moto mounts, Idk, and a chain drive set, that I have to modify to fit the saw motor. Still haven't found a truck I like enough to buy for this little project.
I didn't think anyone else here was into this stuff. Every time I mention this to anyone, they think I am a big geek. Well, I am a big geek but not cuz of that.lol

Something I found interesting about that old Homey engine: it has a 47mm bore. That's BBK big! It's a 3.1 cubic inch engine, short stroke makes most of its power under 9000 rpm. 2 ring piston, chrome something plated bore. It's bigger than a stock 1e40, by 5 cc's. A 54cc saw, it's a friggin BEAST. I have two of these saws, one a 1977 and one a 1979. both run out quick and easy. The Tillotson carb has a 12 mm venturi, and it's reed valve induction.

I used to run a 1/10th Losi buggy and a truck back in the 90's on a local dirt off-road race track with my kids. Both used stock motors and six cell NiCad batteries. There were strict classes for buggies and trucks as well as modified classes with 7-cells and motors, all 1/10 scale. Except for one idiot the management let run in the stock truck class with a 1/8 scale truck. He just tried to knock everyone else off the track. The off-road track was redesigned each week and they had oval racing also. The track finally closed due to mismanagement. The owner bought too many high $$ toys and could not keep the track bills paid.

This is what I've got! www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00XREYYY4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1464422264&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=ecx+torment&dpPl=1&dpID=41Sb%2Bll8dmL&ref=plSrchThe ecx torment my brothers but he lives 2000 miles, he visits often but we've broken the plastic gear that the metal motor gear turns with twice now, and have blown the motor by submerging it in muddy water on an off road scooter/truck path lol!! They are a blast, fairy cheap and super easy to fix if something goes wrong! I'm about to order more of the plastic gears, I'll buy a few of them this time incase I break it on the first day I fixed it like we did last time!
