I bought a new Buddy 4/13/16 and it is in the process of getting registered in Georgia. The dealer is responsible for sending the information to the state and then the state mails the title to the owner. However, I am getting calls from my insurance company the the VIN keeps "bouncing" back from the state to the insurance company. There is very little I can do until I get something from the state. The department of motor vehicles says it may be because the title has not been issued yet so the VIN does not exist but that was one clerk's guess. I am trying to verify that my binder is still valid in case I should have a mishap or be stopped since I have no tag yet and this is obvious from the speed that it is not a moped.
I am in Florida right now but my son is riding it a bit while I'm gone. I guess it really isn't a big deal since I know it will get resolved but it can be a bit frustrating dealing with the state and the insurance company. I don't like dealing with either one.

The states and insurance companies seem to have problems with the VINs for China scoots. The dealer should have a copy of the certificate of origin that should help some. Just make sure the Insurance paperwork matches the VIN on the scoot which is on a VIN plate and also on the frame. The state and the insurance company can argue back and forth but as long as the scoot VIN matches the VIN on the policy you should be covered. -I am not a lawyer and this does not constitute legal advice.
