My little 50cc 1p39qmb has an in-line vacuum/gravity fed fuel valve. I got a Briggs manual shut off valve as a gag gift but, now I wanna use it for real. This is the fuel pump I have now. enviromoto.ecrater.com/p/3809809/50cc-vacuum-fuel-valve-frame. Can I just pull off the original and replace with the manual shut off valve? What about the vacuum line? Just plug it at the manifold? Would that create excess pressure?? I figure a manual fuel valve is a good idea If it should get stolen it wont start with out fuel unless you know how ;D! Is this even a good idea or should I leave it alone?? Is there a better option?

Just plug off the vacuum port and use the manual valve. It's usually not even necessary to have any kind of valve other than the float bowl valve but it's handy to have an easy way to shut off your fuel line when working on your carburetor. A half way savvy thief would probably figure out and find a manual shut off valve unless you've routed it through your under-seat storage area in which case you just as well put an ignition disabling switch there which would be even better since the scooter wouldn't start at all in that case.

Yeah what he said^^^
The vacuum valves are cool in that they keep the carb from overflowing when parked for a long time and you don't have to remember to turn them to on but a manual valve is more reliable. To plug off the vacuum port I just cut a little inch and a half piece of vacuum line and put a screw in one end and put it on the intake.

Thanks for the info guys. I knew I was over thinking this  I like the idea of running it thru the seat storage. Easy enough to reroute and secure. Thanks for the tip!!! Is there any info on relocating or installing a hidden kill switch? Again GREAT idea!!! :thumb: It would be nice if I am the only one that knows how to get the scoot started HEHE

I think you just figured it out yourself. Just break into the wire going to the kill switch on your handlebar and duplicate the situation that the kill switch creates when activated. I think some take the wire to ground while some may disconnect the wire from ground to kill the engine and prevent it from starting.

Ok so on my next day off I plan on re routing the fuel line thru the seat bucket with a manual shut off. If I plug the vacuum at the manifold I guess I wont have to worry about any vacuum leaks ;D Yet another plus for going manual!!! I also plan on using an old switch to add/relocate another kill Thanks for the tips guys!!! I will hide the new kill switch on the bottom of _______ then all you have to do is reach under_____ . Or I could route it back and to the left just before the______!!! Now if the angle of the dangle is just right the ground wire should connect. What do you think?? Again thanks for the ideas!!!!
