Okay this has now happened too me twice and it's got me worried. First on Monday night at work I went to Burger King on my lunch break. Started up fine at work and it was only about a mile to Burger King. Went inside came out too leave, turned the key, hit the switch, nothing! I tried to kickstart it and it would not even attempt to kickstart. So being that I was on break I just called AAA and had them take me home so I could get the cage.
So we get it home, take it off the flatbed and I push up to my doorstep, figure what the hell I'll try it again and it starts right up just fine. So I took the car back to work and figured I'd check it out the next day. Tuesday I pull the plastics off and check for any loose connections somewhere, everything looks and feels fine. So I put it back together and rode it the rest of the week. So today I get up and take a quick run down to Advance Auto Parts for a few things, come back out and I have the same problem. So this time I'm only about a mile from home so I walk home to get the car and the tools and come back. I get back and decide to check the battery (even though I knew that wasn't it) and the battery is fine. While I'm there I check the fuse too and it looks fine, but since I'm already at Advance I figure it can't hurt to replace the cheap OEM Chinese fuse. I replace the fuse and it starts right up!! Now I really don't think I can be that lucky!! My luck usually sucks!! So I have been leaning toward maybe the key switch or the brake safety interlock switch. So I need to know what you guys think and how is the best way to test for it. I'm not even sure where the brake interlock switch is. Is it in the handbrake assy? Is it the same switch as the brake light switch? Or is it down by the rear wheel somewhere, and does anybody have some other suggestions I can try?
I realize of course that while it's working I may not be able to perform a test that will reveal it unless it quits and leaves me stranded somewhere. I only have one more tow left on my AAA this year and I don't want to waste if I can help.
