Well, after a long hiatus...
Quite a few things have happened.
The scoot left me stranded 20 miles from home back in July... Thankfully after walking about 3 miles, my wife picked me up. The scoot sat where she died for 2 weeks. It got towed by the city. Went to pick it up. Cost me $1 to get it back, lol.
Well i worked on it enough to limp it home 30 miles... Turns out the bolt for the pickup backed out and the pickup was riding on the flywheel. Luckily I had a spare on me, and I had my tools. Got it running though after a short trip to autozone for a bolt. Fun riding at 25mph with a scoot that barely stayed running. Got her home where she sat in my garage for 2 months. I tinkered around with it to discover the variator was broken. Replaced that with a "DLH High speed" variator off ebay. Still ran like poop. Would not fo over 25. So I gave up and it sat in my garage for a few more months.
Then came thanksgiving weekend. I went through the scoot with the intent to get it running to sell to my brother. So, I fixed every possible thing wrong with it. I dont want to sel my brother a POS. Anyway, drained the tank (sitting for 5 or so months). Fresh gas. Fixed the CDI plug. The (terminology?) sleeve inside the plugs had huge gaps. So I took them out then closed the gaps with a tiny flat head. I went through every plug and did the same.
Then I went to start it. BOOM. Went on a little ride. 35mph. YEAH. I fixed it. It was running rich with a #100 main. Swapped it out for smaller and smaller jets til now Im at #80. She scoots like a dream now. Got her up to 45mph. But she still feels too rich. Its crazy. Im at an #80 main with (see first post) all these mods. My thinking is because I have the stock exhaust, she isn't fully open. So the exhaust is next to change. Im probably gonna do the "Tractor Supply Muffler" because its cheap, fast and quiet. Then i will go up in jets.
Anywho, I will be getting more scooters when I sell this one. Lessons learned.
