IF it's not in the CVT then it's probably rod bearings failing

Yes, but I assume because I'd already tweaked the float in the old one.

Not really a win per se since I still have to adjust the new carb. The big problem now is the leaking Glixal valves, I just ran a compression test with the new head installed, 70psi. I have an engine with a fresh 80cc kit and stock head I'm going to check this afternoon and see what it runs.

So far from our 100cc BBK survey, it seems that the successes and failures are nearly equal.
Here again is what might be a guideline.....
1). Do not choose the 100cc BBK if it is your first BBK and you are doing the install yourself (unless you are VERY experienced)
2). The 100cc BBK runs VERY HOT initially. It's very important not to try to run the 100cc BBK long OR hard during the first half hour of it's life. I have posted a "safe" break in procedure in this thread earlier. It involves only running the motor a very short time under no load during the first few start ups and then allowing the motor to cool down, and repeating this process, g-r-a-d-u-a-l-l-y increasing the run time, distance and load.
3). Never attempt to run a 100cc BBK with a stock 50cc head. The compression will be too high and heat will be off the charts high.
4). If you tend to want to run your scooter hard ALL the time (or much of the time), consider a 47mm (80cc) kit instead. it is much more tolerant of high rpms due to the lighter piston weight.
5). MAKE SURE you err on the rich side of tuning. Start with maybe a 100 Main Jet and work your way down. Running lean is a death sentence for the 100cc (50mm piston) kit especially during break in.
6). Resist the urge to push the 100cc BBK hard to soon. Let those rings seat and the temps drop before you push it really hard.
7). The use of an A9 cam with the 100cc BBK is probably a good idea as it will drop dynamic compression a bit and help the motor last longer. But it also boosts output noticeably (if installed correctly).
8). If you set up your CVT so that you don't need to exceed 7,000 to 7,500 rpms too often, it will extend the life of your 100cc BBK
Would like to see some more 100cc success stories! Good luck. Have fun!

I'm going to pull mine, fix the valves, reassemble with a fresh cylinder kit and the new carb and sell it on CraigsList, compared to what I was starting to see with the 80cc kit before it was even fully tweaked, the 100cc has been an excercise in impractical science and a poor substitute for what I really wanted in a scooter. The Bob will run fine with a new 80cc kit and stock head, pretty sure I can run the A9 too without clearance issues which might just be the final piece to that engine's gettin in the zone from past experience.

So just an update on my build...
This morning I noticed my odometer on my GPS reading 3200 miles. I had reset the odometer a while back when I got a new phone, and before that I had 2500 miles on it. The motor I'm using was purchased from a friend, he put a lot of miles on it and I have no idea how many, but at least 1000 on his BBK and a few hundred on the 39mm stock setup.
So far, so good!
I've put in new piston rings, cleaned and lapped the valves and head (adjusted the valves 4 times prior and once after), and cleaned the carb once. I don't change my oil as frequent as I should, either. I ride HARD: burnouts, drag racing, wheelies.
I'm hoping to get this motor to 10,000 miles!

Yup after the mishap with the woodruff key destroying the key way the new crank has broken in and the 50mm BBK is passed 15k and I do ride hard for daily 26 mile runs twice a day, I keep it at 40-45, try not to let it creep faster, I am planning the next build with the hoca stroker crank and Airsal piston, got the 50mm BBK kit with big valve head 23mm intake-20mm exhaust, A9 cam from scooters to go, I have all the parts ready to install, I am cleaning up a bare long case, this one goes in the SST50 Dong Fang bullet 21. Anybody have advice on this build? I am ready to learn from the masters.

Idles extremely better, pulls WAY harder under WOT, just feels better all around. I'd like to port match my head, but that's another story. I still wanna add the Airsal piston too and see how much better that is. Don't forget to upgear.

Dex, You really got that kind of improvement with the 24mm carb? I lost a little bottom end going from 18mm to 20mm. Top end wasn't much better. I may try a different 24mm carb.

The first carb was a stock untunable one and it ran okay, a little lean. I used parts from it to fix my Keihin (breather fitting broke off). I moved the needle to most fuel flow (clip on most bottom notch) and turned my a/f mixture screw 1.75 turns out. Runs beautifully. Idles better than any other carb I've tried and has amazing throttle response. Obviously I had to use a matching intake, the 150 carbs don't fit the 50 intake. I really wanna port match my head.

Just at 100 miles on the 50mm BBK kit I installed on the DongFang STT50 Bullet 21, with A9 cam so far so good, I ran it for 1/2 hr at idle on initial start up, 2 short 6 mile trips at 30mph, with cool downs, then 2 27 mile runs at 35mph in normal traffic. will keep it slow for 300 miles. I would like to upgrade the muffler, I have a 3 bolt flange with the bolts about 3 inch apart, any good performance muffler you can recommend?? Also up to about 2000 miles now on the Lance PCH 50 with P50QMG(scrappydog) and 50mm BBK /A9 cam, that I spun the woodruff key on, new crank is fine, running strong.

I've now got a little over 1k miles on my 50mm BBK with big valve head, A9 Cam, etc.. Went for a ride for the first time since last summer today since it was so nice outside (80F) and it still ran like a champ!
