The unburnt gas entering his exhaust could have got me to work on my scoot for a week.

The 2JZ is a legend. Going fast in an import car over the last 10 years pretty much meant obtaining one. Put a 67mm ball bearing turbo on it and you're at 700hp easy.
They are extremely durable and have been pushed to over 1000hp often.
Nissans offering...the VG30ET and VG33 could not reliably handle that amount of power daily. Maybe 650hp. The oiling system on them was not able to handle it for one thing. It just wasn't designed for that kind of power although Nissan did race one that made 1000hp for a short time. But it was specially engineered by Nissan for the job.
You're gonna spend a sizeable chunk of cash just to get a 2JZ tho.

The interior and bodywork. The girl would be a bonus.

First clip;hate to see a build like that flogged by a mindless driver that proves nothing but how to destroy a lot of hard work..I'd jerk that dude out of the car after that and tell him how much work it took to build that car along with some bloody knuckles!!I love turbo's too,its "free horsepower"when built right...

I am a 4G63 fan personally. Hey, 5 gears 4 cylinders 3 diamonds 2 liters and 1 big fu**ing turbo! 2JZ are for rich people only imo (just look at the aftermarket world prices for them) let alone a stock engine with all the wiring, ecu tranny ect. Just to get one from a junkyard with all the essentials cost more than my whole car (98 Eclipse GS-T) that pushes 500whp on 91 pump. I've been in the import game for a long time. The NOPI days as a teenager were the best.

DSM How much did it take to get to 5. How reliable is it stock and built.

DSM How much did it take to get to 5. How reliable is it stock and built. They are kinda like the 2JZ in the sense of being built for boost from the factory. I am pushing the stock internals limits at 500. It cost around 12k to get to 500 including the car. These motors are very reliable at the 300-400hp range and is easy to achieve with just bolt ons.

I miss my 2j, had an Aristo beater with r154 box for a couple months years ago, sold it when I brought a Subaru. Nissans offering...the VG30ET and VG33 could not reliably handle that amount of power daily. Maybe 650hp. You seem to be forgetting the RB engines. R.I.Ps here in NZ have been building insane RB engines for years now www.ripsracing.com
