Thanks for the info. Im having problems getting the clutch saft out of the case. I tryed a block of wood and hammer to get it out. All that did was move the scooter around.

I'm not following you here. You take the side (belt) cover off, remove the variator (front pulley) and belt. Undo the nut on the clutch shaft and remove the clutch/rear pulley assembly. Ok, so looking at it you have the clutch shaft facing you coming out of a cover. You undo the bolts holding the cover on, grab the clutch shaft in your hand, give it a pull (and a wiggle), and the shaft/cover should come off (unless some thoughtful soul glued the thing in there). There are a couple of pry points around the cover you can (carefully) use a screwdriver on, but be careful, the cover is located on dowels and MUST come off square, or you will fubar it. Once the cover/clutch shaft are in your hand the clutch shaft comes out of the cover on the "wet" side.
(I'm about to do my Zuma in the next week, or so)

once you have all the bolts out of the case if it doesnt want to come carefully tap on the internal trans cover with a dead blow mallet

Alrite, sorry guys for not being clear. This is on a QMB139, I know how to get the cover off and all that fun stuff. I just cant get the clutch shaft out of the case. Its like the bearing that that clutch shaft rides in was pressed or something into the case. I just need some tips on how to get that bugger out with out messing up the oil seal. Thank you guys for your help.

I've just tapped 'em out with a deadblow or rubber mallet. I would say to try a little heat around it from a heat gun or something, but the seal wouldn't like that much. The aluminum case should expand more than the steel bearing.

I'm still not understanding........ When you pull the cover, the clutch shaft should come with the cover, not remain in the case. You would typically press the clutch shaft out of the cover. Because you are going to press the driven gear off the shaft this should not be a "biggie"? If somehow the clutch shaft is stuck in the bearing in the case I would install the driven pulley on the shaft with the nut and use the assembly as a slide hammer to get the shaft out. (I have done 6 final drive gear changes and never have seen this) Pressing the gear: if you have a regular shop press you are all set, but I have found a ball joint/big U joint press will do the trick using an impact gun. If lucky you can catch a ball joint/big U joint press on sale @ Harbor Freight for $60(?). Most 4 wheeler truck guys who do their own repairs would have such a thing. www.harborfreight.com/automotive-motorcycle/steering/four-wheel-drive-ball-joint-service-kit-4065.html

If, indeed, we are talking about the axle (rather than the clutch shaft): 1) you don't have to remove the axle as the gear slides on the axle splines (quite unlike a Minarelli which is a press fit), and 2) the axle should pull out of the bearing (worst case being a blow from a rubber hammer). Unless, of course, you have something (seen, or unseen) wound around the axle, making the seal toast anyway. Let me refer you to this picture: www.partsforscooters.com/Vehicle-Type/50cc-4-stroke-QMB139-Gear-Box-PartsYour up-gear kit should consist of: #14 and #15

Hey thanks reveeen, The idea about the ball joint press, witch I have had not crossed my mind. I did end up just hitting the clutch shaft out. The ball joint press worked awsome to remove the bearing off the saft. I also had to change the counter saft gear. the kit came with a 15 tooth gear, I had to use the old 14 tooth gear and press it with the 52 tooth gear. Well anyway thank you, My scooter is doing well over 50mph now hahaha.

GOOD FOR YOU! (glad I could help)
After running it a bit re-check the gear oil level (and use gear oil, regular, or synthetic, not engine oil in there, engine oil would work, but will seep out).
Those ball joint presses are one of the handiest tools I have bought, just the thing for suspension/spring bushings too!
