Engine Died then ran fine.... help.

I have recently installed an 82cc bbk and head in my lance charmin 49cc scooter.
Everything was runnign pretty good and I was loving it.
Today I had to go pick up the taxes on the other side of town. This was by far the longest haul ive done on her.
I was moving pretty quick, wot most of the way there. doing about 38 -40 mph.
I picked up the taxes and took a different route home, because its uphill so I took a slower road back.
about 15 minutes into my return trip i noticed that my power was slightly low, I took a turn and then the power dropped a little more, then one more time a large drop and the scoot just died out completely on me.
I figured I had siezed it and I got off took alook at the block and didnt see anything out of the ordinary, it was hot but not smoking or anything (not that it has any oil on it).
So I figured what the heck and cranked it over, it cranked over about 5 times then started.
I killed it and took a look and sniff again and didnt see anything so then I started it back up and hopped on, it was running fine no loss of power, I was about 3 minutes from my house so I drove it home and let it cool off a bit, checked the oil and everythign seemed fine, got back on and drove it back into the office, about 3 miles.
everythign was fine power was there and everything.

Any suggestions as to what may have happened?
Im thinking that it iether overheated (what are the symptoms of this) or some of the ignition electronics overheated and caused a loss of spark.
Any ideas are welcomed, thanks.

I just thought, there was a section of road that we being worked on and they had sprayed water on it, i was puddle jumping for a bit....

Water on the ignition stuff could possibly cause spark issues or even a total loss of spark, generally till it dries out. Two things make me really doubt that though. You don't generally gradually lose power with a spark issue. Also, when you have trouble with the ignition system from something like that and it's weak, it tends to break up or sputter enough that it's obvious.

It could be overheating. Too small of a jet could do it. If your rollers are really heavy and the engine is put under a lot of load, that will contribute. If the compression is high with the big bore kit heat will build up.

When my roadrunner did something simular, it was a loose air hose to the emission system. When it died after heating up, it was the stator, check on the gap from the stator, pick up, flywheel bump thingy? LOL, I knew what it was called once.

:needpics: Gt vert, I was thinking overheating funny thing what will lower octane gas do as far as heat? I put regular in this last time and noticed it was running a bit slower.
I read somones comment about 1 gallon being in the hose.
I've never messed with the stator befor bit I was thinking it may be that, it only cooled for about 1 minute before it started back up.

Edit. As far as the jet, I don't know what's in there. I purchased the 20 cm carb from scrappy dog when I first got the scoot because I thought the other one was toast. I called him and asked what size jet was in there and he said he didn't know.

yeah if you increased to compresion ratio and then ran a lower octane in it you run the risk of detonating and over heating

if it was a 2 stroke i would say pull the pipe or the head and see if you can see scuff marks on the cyl walls from over heating/soft seizeing
