tao taos are going for like 700 bucks here, it's ridiculous. that's pretty much what they cost new. Honda ch80's are $900. Sure it's a Honda, but it's ugly and it doesn't have a kick start. then there is the "I can't find the title and my daughter lost the keys so we took out the ignition" scoots. Even those are a bit spendy.

Well, that explains a lot. I swear, I did have a title but, my dog ate it right after I lost the keys. Not picking on St. Louis per se...just any inner city is going to be like this...sad to say....NY, LA, Chicago, Miami, etc. Bill |

Yep, pretty much.
I've been tempted by the low price of a fixer upper, and let's be honest, the cops around here have bigger fish to fry than checking to see if a middle aged nerdy guy's scooter is hot, but I don't want to risk it.

Titles are important in Iowa because you have to register your scooter. A bonded title is expensive and a pain, and a risk, the law says anyone with a lien or claim can take it or the bond for cash value. I've been contacted numerous times by people wanting to sell me a scooter, love that "no title but you can get a bonded one", to which I reply go get one and then we'll talk. And their asking $200-$300 for busted up junk.
