Never seen the first one. That sucks. The second one I've seen, and I think was posted here... but damn it makes me laugh every time. Sucks for him, but he wasn't hurt and the burnout/wheelie makes me double over. The deadman switches aren't even mandatory this year for drag racing in NASRA, but the vids do show they could be useful. Hopefully no one actually needs one though.

I think they should be mandatory every year. There's a reason they call them a "deadman" switch. Because they're to be used before you end up dying from a problem. Without it, you'd end up a deadman.

The first video just makes me sad, I feel terrible for that guy after he tries to pick it up and it just twists apart - and the second one kills me every time, lol!
My Mati didn't come with a kill switch - I was quite surprised. I have to use the key to turn it off. I guess thats one less thing to have to worry about going wrong...
Kind of counterintuitive of NASRA to do without the switches this year...

I believe the idea is so stock scooters can show up and race without mods to encourage more participation from the folks that wanna do more riding than wrenching.

Oops. I was confused on the definitions. "A kill switch, also called an e-stop, is a security measure used to shut off a device in an emergency situation in which it cannot be shut down in the usual manner."
"A dead man's switch is a switch that is automatically operated in case the human operator becomes incapacitated, such as through death or loss of consciousness."- Wikipedia.orgI assumed "dead man's switch" was another name for "kill switch". My bad Is it at least mandatory for some sort of a kill switch, other than the key ignition?

From twistandgone.com :
"2. Kill switches no longer required
Basic Gear and a well maintained scooter is all you need to compete."
You need a kill switch for the road racing and scootercross series' though.
